I bought a lot of it in 2016
Some of us don’t buy powder 1lb at a time.
The 40 gr bullet, what twist did you shoot them with and were there very negative results?assuming you have a fast twist barrel.
The anternat says a 22 creed barrel should be cooked at 1200 rounds , but if you care for it ,do you think 2000 rounds is achievable before accuracy expands over 0.875moa ?
I run a 22250 fast twist, at 2600 rounds I'm beginning to get consistent flyers ,but still 1 moa . So maybe a cared for 22 creed could exceed barrel life expectations??
New barrel will be a 22 creed for sure !
What relaoding dies do you use for it ?
I use Redding Type S 6mm Creedmoor dies with a .251" neck bushing and a 22 cal VLD micrometer seating stem. Nowadays I'd just buy a set of Hornady dies and install their micrometer seater stem
I shot the 40gr Nosler BT again the other day, no negative results from my 1:7 twist IBI barrel (426,000 RPM!)
4150 fps (26" brl) with 50.0grs Hodgdon Superformance (Alpha brass / Federal 210M primer)
I just couldn't get the 88gr to shoot out of my 1:7 benchmark.
tried both 7828 and h4831, both of which seemed to be in the neighborhood or recommended powders. I kept getting crazy swings in velocity - 100es and 25 or so SD. not really what I was after. ran through a fair amount of powder and bullets trying to get them dialled.
I tried everything from 10 thousand off lands down to 45 off, it didn't like any of it. groups were typically under an inch but then I'd get a random flier.
Alpha brass SRP, charges dropped with an autotrickler, neck tension set at 0.222. same loading method gets a sd of 2.5 and es of 5 with my 7saum. gun shoots tight too, so I'm relatively certain it's the 22cm arrow (yes this is why I'm trying to sell ~380 of the 88gr in the EE. lol)
Experimented with some varget (37gr) at last session under some 70gr bergers. es dropped to ~30 and sd was around 15 or so.
I know on other forums with the 22cm they say 39gr of varget under a 69gr SMK has been pretty consistent shooter. going to try a little more load development before I rule on it, but so far a lot more consistent results than the 88gr.
