The .275 is out and shooting, will chase Moose soon.

Good job Angus... I'm jealous that you can get out when their antlers still look like plush toys... that bull should be proud to be sent on the "happy odyssey" by such a pretty gun... sans recoil pad ;)

Now get the BBQ going...

Thanks guys, was about 100 yards maybe a bit less. I walked after him for a long ways and the wind was not in my favour, I kept losing sight of him and thinking he was gone, but eventually got to an open sight lane on him. He spotted me immediately when I saw him again and I had a quick moment for a shot, found a nice clean toonie sized hole through the heart so it couldn't have gone better. I'm splitting the meat with a friend who helped me get it out of the bush and if I'm not sick of Moose by next fall, I'll look for the big fella again next year.

Thanks Hoyt yep we open Aug 15th for bulls, first time I've hunted the early season as usually it's too warm, but we got a good chill already.

We hit the road September 22nd... hopefully the weather will be friendly... plus 25C last year sucked... took the bull the first day and had to skeedaddle out of the bush or risk losing the meat... I was hoping for a longer vacation in the woods...

Good work Angus. Are you planning something for the antlers in velvet?

I had meant to ask what you'd done with the butt of that rifle... seems the answer is "nothing as of yet". I'm sure it will be excellent as is the rest of that piece.

Yes indeed, so far, just got it hunting and wanted an end on it I didn't mind resting in the marsh. Rushed it into service for Moose season.

Naw, I'm not much of a mount guy, and I'll be chasing the bigger fella soon enough. So this fella is getting the bush cleanup treatment, time and water.
