It is with great shame that I must report that I do not have a .30-30(not yet, anyways). I still do not have a lever action of any description, solving this problem is amongst my firearms priorities. I would really like to have a good conditioned, shooter grade 100 or so year old Winchester 1894 for deer hunting, for whatever reason, hunting with an antique rifle is very appealing to me. It will be amongst the next three guns I buy, that I am nearly certain of.

After a 20+ yr. hiatus, I have returned to the 30-30 club due to a recent purchase of a nice 1971 NRA '94
Winchester. I've slicked 'er up a bit more to my liking & will see how she doe's in the woods soon.

How many of us, either have owned, or do own a 30-30 chambered rifle, or handgun.
Doesn't matter what make, or model.

My Canadian Centennial. Its pretty beat up but it runs smooth and fun to shoot.

Yup. I got a savage 340 in 30-30
Going through this thread admiring all the neat little 30-30 rifles, I am very surprised at the big whopping variables some of you put on these lovely little guns, totally destroying their balance and handling qualities!!
Honestly believe me guys you can kill a deer or moose at 75 yards with less the 9-10 power enlargement. Good grief!
A little rifle like this if a scope is wanted should wear something proportional, like a Leupold 4x33, or 2x fixed Leupold, lightweight, small and plenty enlargement for a 30-30.

So you have decided to design every shooters firearm for them.... because YOU KNOW better? You get with it! If you don't like a certain type of scope on a lever action rifle then don't put one on yours... keep your yap shut about what others choose to use on theirs... unless they ASK for your opinion.

I think the one piece Weaver style base looks tacky, IMHO. The Leupold is very solid. And nothing but Signature rings go on my scopes, if for no other reason than I resent ugly ring marks permanently impressed into expensive optics. "Medium" is their lowest ring, see photo in previous post. Using this set up, the 40mm objective bell cleared the rear buckhorn sight on the barrel.
Just my own preference, FWIW.
