The 30-30 club, are you in?

can agree on quick acquisition, but im looking for more of a scope setup!

Look at an illumimated scope...I have a couple illuminated 2-7X scopes on a .44 and .357 Max... precision of a scope with the low light and quick acquisition capabilty of a red dot.

I'm of the school that if a guy owns a gun its his business how he builds it up. My pre-64 94 and 444 have receiver sights. The 92 is getting a receiver sight but I did use a Leupold 2.5X M8 Compact on my 444. It sure tightened up sight in groups and resulted in my longest moose shot of 175 yards. Until quite recently I even considered bolt actions too new for me!!

These days laminated stocks, stainless steel and optical contraptions are growing on me for levers. If I ever buy another it might be the 336XLR with Thermakote and a Trijicon 1-4 variable. Or maybe a decent used 339BL with a Trijicon dot sight. Hope it doesn't get me kicked out of the club!! However my favorites are a little more traditional.

I have one very similar from my grandfather, one of the few guns I'll never sell. But how does one manage 1/2 MOA with those buckhorn sights? You'd win every iron sight match I've ever shot with 1/2 MOA shooting. I'd even allow the rifle in our matches despite it not fitting the rules, to see that feat. ;)

And they never lose value.
There's a '71 Win. 94, with a reciever "speckled with rust", going for $525 plus shipping.
It's on E.E. as we speak, better be quick!

If you look closely you can see It has a Lyman aperture rear sight. I shot three rounds off front and rear bags. The target was a dayglo orange 6" circle with a 2" black center. That, is how I managed that.:)

I will probably get scolded for having ever purchased one but here is mine a Mossberg 464 with an old Redfield 1-4x . I know people tend to speak badly about them but it shoots straight and I have never had one issue with it. In fact I will be carrying it in the bush this weekend.

I'm back in too. I have a Winchester 94AE in 30-30 with a 4x32 Bushnell scope on SeeThru bases.
My previous rifle was the exact same model with walnut stock. I bought it brand new but didn't use it much at all, so I sold it on the EE. I've regretted that decision ever since. How can a man live without a 30-30? :D
