The 30-30 club, are you in?

I was just given one made in 1965… now to go down another rabbit hole.. been a bolt gun or semi guy all my life.
You were given a gem, Caribou Nothing better (imho) in the deer woods. Congratulations and enjoy, Would pass on to you one tidbit of info.though. Don't be tempted to use the pointed tip ammunition now available for the 94s. I don't think this vintage was ever built for that cartridge.

Got a 30 30 model 94 that is my close range deer gun. Shoots hornady 160 ftx at 2400 with lever revolution powder. Awesome gun and feels so classic for a deer rifle

That is what I reload for my wife’s Marlin 336. Works great for her. I also have a CZ 600 in 7.62x39 that I have been using for short range and blind hunting. It’s nice and light too.

I have both FTX and round nose bullets in stock to reload with. I will experiment a bit.

Hello New to the site. Love my 30-30 Henry Side Gate Lever Action, great in the bush. The round smashes through small twigs and stays on target, Short to medium. I haven't tried the pointed tip, no need to fix what aint broke. I rounded the edges of the leaver to make it feel custom for my hand action.

curious why? Hornady claims 'loaded to conventional pressures'
Likely a personal thing here, but I had flyaways and a lot more kick when I used the Hornaday rounds. Hornaday has a great reputation so I tried to believe the flyaways were a " flinch " trouble, but never had a reoccurrence when I switched back to the 150 grain stubbies. Could have been old gun,old guy trouble but just my experience

I got this SSK 30-30 barrel about a year ago. It shoots far beyond my hopes were! I love this short compact, and very accurate barrel!

Hope you enjoy the photo.

I’ve wanted a Winchester 94 in 30-30 for a long time. Only time I’ve been able to handle one was dispatching some cows on my uncles farm. But it wasn’t the prettiest gun after spending years riding around in the tractor

Re: Hornady Leverevolution:
A couple of years back, I was at the LGS and a new shooter entered in an anxious state. He had a Marlin 30/30 with a live round wedged into the receiver corner, just above the chamber mouth. The lever was jammed open and couldn't be moved open or closed.
I asked the owner for a screwdriver and removed the lever pivot screw. I then removed the lever and gave the rifle a good shake, freeing the round.
The owner was quite relieved, and I don't think that he has bought Hornad y ammo again.
