The .300 Debate

It definitely needs some. I never bothered chronographing the 7828 loads, since they didn't shoot worth a fiddler's fornication there was no use. I'll get back to playing with loads for that rifle one of these days, but honestly that cursed pipe probably isn't worth the effort. Weatherby 180 grain factory loads only go 2950 fps. Some barrels are just dogs. Nothing a 26" Gaillard won't fix.

Yeah, I have a Gaillard on my 264 and am looking forward to seeing what it will do. Many years ago my Dad had a PH in 30-06 that was very slow. Could almost see the 220 going through the air...lol

I think it's fair to say that the 300 Win mag is faster then the wsm, but my wsm with a 168g ttsx, and IMR4350 clocks 3080 out of my 23" Browning.

Using H4350 and Magnum I had 165 TSXs moving a hair shy of 3150 out of a Kimber so chambered. Ramshot Magnum is one of the best powders I have used in a Magnum cartridge to date.

I would like to set a bunch of Magnum behind a 200gr Accubond in a 300 Weatherby one day. It will close on 3100fps I would bet.

I would like to find Magnum around here. Might have to order some.

Tried this combo and got the velocity but not the acceptable accuracy.

Omenica Source for Sports. Ask for Mark; he's a little odd and he may hit on you, but he'll deliver.:D

Ahh. Thats too bad, sounds like a flubber rifle. Who built it? And what barrel? (pm if you ain't into publicly causing a #### storm).

I had a P14 chambered to 300WM, I call it my 303 Winchester magnum. It is truly a fine rifle. I load 200 grain m/c bullets to about 2970 and can get 3150 out of 180's. It is of course a bit tougher to get good bullets for, at these velocities I would not trade for any other cartridge to either gain 100fps or knock a pound off the rifle weight.

So you had a 300 Mag Reamer run into the actual .311 barrel? Interesting. You should push some 215gr Weldcore outta that. They would expand into freaking umbrellas!

It was a cheap way to get a belted magnum. I use regular 300 win mag dies. I have no problem with case necks. I bought three hundred 200gr speer .311 grand slams for it. I don 'shoot it that much, but it is a nice shooter
