The .375 Holland & Holland Part II

Superbrad be happy that those sh@theads are pointing at you, and you are teaching your boys to hunt.Ont. has surely gone to ####,I am so glad my dad left that pos prov;working 2-3 jobs at a time.Now hes worn out, but he can still sit in a bear stand.

I hunted with a German in Namibia and they are absolutely obsessed with ritual and propriety, I agree they take hunting to another level but they lack the fun, and the ability to miss and laugh at ones self. Everybody screws up from time to time and I gave a big ol' yank on my trigger and missed a mountain zebra clean, my PH was absolutely beside himself. I explained that occasionally I do that sort of thing and it falls under "s##t happens", not the end of the world, but to him it certainly was. That was after planting 2 for 2 on a running Gemsbok at 280 mtrs, this also pi##ed him off. If I never hunt with another TRADITIONAL German PH I'll be a happier man.

I hunted wild boar and roe deer in the Seven Hills district south of Bonn. It was a great experience. While Germans take hunting seriously, the people I hunted with,kept it fun. Not being fluent in German limited my ability to communicate but hunting camps do indeed share similarities the world over.
Thanks for the post Ardent.

Thanks for taking the time to pass on you experiance. I just got my 375hh back from the smith's I have yet to shoot it and I've owned it for almost a year, but that will change real soon. Anyways how are these on deer sized game for meat damage?? If the 375 shoots as well as I'm hoping it does I might let my 06 go.

Perfect for your area, the .375. I'm often found just up 73 road in the old Beatton Airstrip/Tommy Lakes area, awesome Moose you guys have here.

I shot a Whitetail doe with mine last fall, very clean, and very little meat damage. Bang flop effective too. I think on deer it's no more effective than anything .257-277 and up, but the fact is if you don't mind the moderate recoil, most don't with practice, it's really nice having one go-to rifle worldwide. It makes less of a mess than a .270 of course.

I've taken quite a bit of 100 kilos and under game with mine and it's as perfect a rifle for it as any, and better than most. On the order of meat damage to recap, it's small hole in, healthy hole out (usually about the size of a Loonie or Toonie) that bleeds like mad.

New 375...

Well, after Ardent started this post, it got me all excited about the H&H again....enough that all of a sudden my wallet was lighter again!!:D Anywho, I thought I would throw a few pics up. Any info about these Whitworths is of interest, it's my first experience with them.. Guns weights 8 1/4lbs bare. I'm not sure about that set of leaf sights...they are pretty basic I think...but a NEGC apeture might work as well...

375

They are a good working rifle, had one in 375 and one in .458. Watch your OAL in 375 if your loading for it, make sure it will eject a loaded cartridge.
I found it a bit light in .458 but quite nice to shoot in 375. Good stock design and perfect weight in my opinion.
Congrats on the aquisition. :cheers::D

Hey thanks for the tip. i actually noticed that today when i was playing with it..the mag box is fairly long, but in order to eject a loaded round, I had to make then quite a bit shorter...that's something that would be easy to miss. It's gonna be a bit jump to the lands..about 140 I think...but we'll see how she does.

If you want to fix that you can either notch the forward receiver ring ala pre 64 mod 70 or you can cut back your bolt stop and ejector about .100"
