Since Gatehouse's thread got shut down I thought we better keep a civilized and moderator friendly discussion going about this great cartridge.

I have a left hand Hawkeye Alaskan in .375 Ruger and hope to expand on my collection so far with other great firearms chambered in this cartridge:).

Continue the discussion's please...............

Might be an indication the 'topic' is full or has already received enough coverage. Perhaps browse what already exists and you may find any answers you're looking may have already been addressed.
 
This 375 ruger thread is better than the last one already!

I have one on order, or rather backorder, its like im 7 years old waiting for fricking christmas, and the weather is conspiring to make it seem that way as well.

How do you like those 250 gr ttsx's? It sounds like the BC is very close to the 300 gr's but the velocities are a fair bit better? I already shoot a 300 wm, so Im thinking about trying the 300's when I get around to loading some ammo.
 
The 250's should be perfect for all around British Columbia hunting.
I would save the 300's for Africa.
Im going to guess at around 2850 fps :cool:
Someone will have to start a thread for load data soon!

Never enough coverage of this great cartridge IMHO John Peterson;). I have browsed them all by the way. That is why I started this one to continue the conversation of the cartridge without comments like your's :cool:

BC is .424

260 NAB is .473

Their trajectories are virtually identical, as you will get a bit more velocity form the 250 TTSX.

300 gr TSX has BC of .357...
 
Thanks for posting Gatehouse. I thought your other thread got shut down for no reason really and we had better keep talking about the .375 Ruger!


Any one own one of those stainless laminate No.1's?

COnsidering the 250 TTSX should penetrate better than a 300gr Nosler Partition, and you can push the 250's to 2850fps easily, I think they will be outstanding for BC.

Bartell and I stated bugging Barnes about these bullets a couple of years ago, and considering there are so many other NEW KING owners, iI wonder how many others bugged them for this bullet, too..:)

In reality, if you've actually gone through all the dialogue I don't think the actual cartridge or its potential was ever in question. Just some of the 'promotional' antics. :dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I know Gatehouse has pimped up his .375 Ruger Alaskan with a McMillan stock. Anyone else customized their .375 Rugers yet?

The NEW KING is such a good rifle to begin with, it's hard to really improve on it, but I felt that the Hogue stock (which was perfectly serviceable) could be improved on, and I had the trigger smoothed out a bit. I didn't feel the need to replace it with a Timney as I have done before with other Ruger rifles.

A picky guy might want to try some different iron sights, but the supplied ones are sturdy and work well. I've mulled over buying one of those aperture sights that fit into the rear scope dovetail as a "backup scope" but I haven't done it yet. Maybe if I stumble on one at a gun show or in a shop or something...:)

I thought about trying those rear aperture sites as well and still might try them out. I went with alot of recommendations of the VX3 2.5-8 x 36 scope with a duplex reticle in matte black.

I have had alot of fun shooting the rifle with open sites and have had nice groups at 100 with them. I was wacking the 200 yard gong off hand as well with the opens no problem. Such a fun rifle:cool:.
