I have a thread here from some time ago about a Marlin 375win I bought. Long story story short... time was early 80's, bought gun new from dealer selling from house in F'ton. Couldnt hit the broad side of barn. Took back to dealer. Stated he resighted it. Looked at it and the sights were basically on the side of the barrel. Wouldnt take it back or on trade. I called Marlin. Sent the gun to the US. They rebarreled it stating the barrel was twisted in too tight and caused a warp. No charge to me although it would have been nice to have a new one since the only wear was from me trying to sight it in due to factory's fault. Anyways... I still have it. Excellent shooter for those betweent he 30-30 and 45/70 calibres.

I've used a .375 deer hunting for a number of years, great gun to walk with and the heavy bullet will clear a trail to the target. Add a peepsight and it's great for those deer that snort and blast out of the junipers or balsams and scare the chit out of you. It's a shame Hornady wouldn't include this caliber in the leverevolution. I really enjoy the gun but the expense and scarcity of the shells has me reaching for the .308 more often.
i actually think its not 2208 but instead 2206 as i use 2208 in my 35 whelen..
im having most issues with loose pills once seated, a crimp problem not quite tight enough or something.
il shoot a few groups when im back on the ranch.
what range do you think is best for open sight .. im leanin toward 50ms ?! to keep it somewhat uniform :/

I bought a new Savage 99 in .375 Win in the early 80's and dumped a nice 4 point
blacktail deer at 110 yds. I was using Winchester 200gr. Silvertip ammo. The rifle
had a Bushnell 1.5-4.5 Scope Chief mounted in Weaver rings and shot great.
I took the deer with a quick snap shot to the heart/lung area as the critter rose
from it's bed. Upon firing, I saw the sucker go over with legs in the air.
I sold the rifle a year later to a buddy whose dad went out and got three moose with it.
Definitely one of those guns that I should've kept. Damn!
A neat rifle to build up would be a Lee Enfield sporter in .375 Win. and
you would have a 10 shot moose blaster.

Here is a photo of a Sambar i took with the 375 Winchester,
at around 50 yards, projectile pinholed through but he dropped there, required a finisher.
Crickey mate! Small wonder the bullet just pinholed the bugger.
I reckon the beasty only dressed out at around 75 lbs.
No matter, he's in the meat locker now. I use a .357 mag. on critters
in this size range, but I just scored an as new .375 Winchester 94
from me longtime buddy and I pick it up tommorow.

Winchester Big Bore 94 in .375 Win. that is pristine,
complete with Lee dies, 100 pcs new brass, 200 Hornady 220gr.
bullets, 40 pcs once fired Win brass, 4 boxes of Win. 200gr. ammo,
and 3 boxes of Win. 250gr ammo. I'm a happy guy!
Of course, I now owe me mate a big favour!

No worries. This rifle is almost mint except for a minor ding on
the fore end which I can steam out. We had it out to the
range a few months ago and put 2 boxes of 200 gr. Winchester
Power Points through 'er and zeroed the sights for 100 yds.
Hitting the gong at 200 yds was dead easy and shooting
golf balls at 25-40 yds. was a howl. The gun has sat in my
buddie's safe since then. Now that it's mine, it will be my
No.1 gun for hunting deer and black bear.
I now have to get a 250gr. mould for it and cast up some
bullets for hunting and plinkin'.

Excellent scoop! It even has a proper filler for the rear sight dovetail, nice touch
Very nice rifle!! Aperture sights are definitely the way to go.
I found H322 to work very well in my 38-55.
But also have had good results with RL7 and Norma 200.
H4198 has a place with cast.

Thanks, I have some 4198 to do some initial testing as well as SR4759
which should do good as well. One of my buddies I shoot with loaded
his .38-55 Ballard with Trail Boss and it shot ok, but was definately
a sub-sonic load that sounded like a poorly loaded shot shell at the trap club.
I'll be setting my loads for this gun in the 1400-1500 fps. range to ensure
good kills on the critters around here.

I just got back from the range, and I now know that I made the
right purchase on my Winchester Big Bore 94!
After taking a few shots on a sighter target to zero the sights,
I then placed three shots on the test target, allowing the barrel
to fully cool between shots to simulate hunting conditions.
