I'm looking at ordering one. There are many vendors selling them - some for 600 - some for 650.. I am looking for some advice - not on who has the best rifles - but on how this import works..

Are they all getting their rifles from the same importer?

I have asked a few questions and sent a few emails and haven't got any concrete answers.

Just looking for some insight as to how this works. For the record I've had positive transactions with pretty much every one selling them.

From what I've been able to see, and from what research I've done, most of the dealers are getting them from the same source, being Russia. The ones that TradeEx and North Sylva are getting, I believe to be from the same source. Same with the ones from Wolverine, but in their case they got them from one of the US importers, hence the presence of the US importation stamps. TradeEx and North Sylva likely got them direct from Russia, which is why theirs do not.

WestRifle's Mosins are the ones from Ukraine (I believe) which, unless they've changed suppliers since I bought mine from them, are standard infantry rifles that were 'sniperized' with modern repro scopes and mounts, and bent handles.

Personally, I've already sold my WestRifle one and will be putting it towards one of the ones from North Sylva. From a collectors point of view an original sniper rifle, even one that was refurbed at some point along the lines, has much more appeal (to me anyways) than one that is essentially a build-up from a non-sniper infantry rifle.

My $0.02.

:agree:

The main difference to me is having an original sniper barrel, and preferably an original PU scope.

Infantry rifles repro'd into fake snipers just remind me those guys in the 80's who would spend big $ to put chrome rims on their 4 cylinder Mustang, instead of just buying a 'real' Mustang.

Those came from Ukraine. Went to USA where after that were sold to another USA company and then sold to North Sylva.
I looked at those rifles and decline those because of my own believes. What do you want to know about those rifles.

Tell us everything about them, your opinons, etc. Thanks

Only about 10 rifles came from ATI in the USA from a Private Import. The new batch of Rifles came over from Europe not the USA.
