Gentlemen opinions...
So I have the 870 MM that perpetually gives me a raging hard-on and occupies an almost equal space with my wife in my dreams. (I won't say who leads)
I have it pretty much exactly as I want it with the MESA Leo Adapter, the Magpul CTR, Enidine Recoil tube, Trijicon Ghost Rings and MESA 6 shot side saddle.
The Enidine device works so well, I don't want to use my regular 870 super mag anymore for hunting and the like. In fact I'm hoping to give it to a very deserving person I know who is in want of 870 goodness. However I do not want to live without some function.
Before heading back to South America, I tried on my supermag deer barrel (combo) on the MM and it worked perfectly. This got me thinking. I wonder how increadibly awesome it would be to have one of the new long rifled cantilever barrels on my shotgun.
I'm thingking of taking my Aimpoint M3 on an ARMS quick release mount of my XCR and putting it on the Rem SPS 23" fully rifled cantilever barrel for slug use. Deer destroyer? Oh YES!
My question is what is the mounting of optics on a cantilever barrel like. Would an ARMS weaver/picatinny rail based mount work on the cantilever? More importantly how much more increadibly badass do you think this rig would be as I described? I'm assuming I could really extend the range of my favourite slug gun with this barrel. Is 125-150 yards realistic?
Now I could easily buy myself the barrel and tell my wife it is for my friends X-mas present and then give him the old 870.
Thoughts?
