WSS and anyone selling powder is supposed to write down the info at purchase? No? The One I frequent in Lethbridge asks that you write your name in the ledger with address, never been asked for ID though, I'm sure they find it a coincidence that my name is always written down as Paul Martin.... sometimes Allan Rock if I'm using a gift card.

i don't hoard. i have had a stash in excess of 40 lbs for probably twenty years. i just replentish now. use a few pounds add a few so i'm pretty much only buying what i'm using. same with primers.
 
Wonder how many millions of rounds the Americans ( rest of coalition) have had the manufacturers contracted for since the invasion of the middle east? Those militaries must go through millions just in training. A 14 year drain on supply for civilians no doubt. But if there is ever a end to the middle east conflict may mean a surplus of NATO rounds and maybe a return to supply of powders.

On a side note guys with the stock of components are just smarter than the guys who don't. If you shoot several calibers you will need multiple powders and stocks will look larger. But like the guys with the pics I stock up so I don't have to buy for 3 years at a time and then restock. Will save money buying bulk and have product on hand. Now feel free to rip apart and whine that you couldn't find stock when others did.

Thick Sliced Bacon is scarce and very high-priced in the few stores that have any, and the selection is very limited ( no thick slices or multipacks). They are limiting people to only one package per person per day.

I try to get to the meat counter early every morning, but there are five guys ( the same five) already there, every day. They get to the bacon cart when they roll it out, and there are not any left to put in the cooler. The same one guy pays for all the bacon every time!

Most of the stores that sell bacon has a sign up that says "Sold out of Thick Slice Bacon".

The bacon producers say they are making bacon as fast as they can, 24/7, but it must be going somewhere else than ordinary retail outlets, because friends of mine are telling me it is the same where they live.

I thought that I would make thick slice bacon at home, but when I went shopping for the equipment I would need, it is in short supply. Corn to feed the pigs, bacon slicers and packaging materials went up in price as the bacon supply went down. Good thing that I had a freezer full, and I think that I can hold out until this shortage is over.

Now the guys I know that can not get any thick slice bacon are calling me a hoarder, because I saw what was coming with the last election, and stocked up.

This is really getting serious!

To be fair I'm feeling the impact. I am a new reloader, and a target shooter. I have been using factory match up till now, because I can't get Varget anywhere. I managed to find some on Cabela's website last weekend, and by the time I placed the order it was sold out. Call it being proactive or not, I can't get any Varget anywhere in the country for the last 6 months. If anyone has any leads please freakin tell me.

I go back to one example: The availability of Reloder 15.....the powder of choice in the M118 sniper round out of Lake City Arsenal......When was the last time you noticed a row of this stuff on the store shelf....??
If the DHS wants 200 million sniper rounds for the 7.62 Nato cartridge, well folks, that's a lotta RL-15....Obviously somebody is gettin' rich....and somebody is getting the short end of the powder stack....

I wish I had a crystal ball to know where all this is going.......If things are bad now, are they going to get worse...? And will our sport survive until then....?

Yes the good old days are gone for ever.
Hording,shortages, panic buying, sky rocketing prices = Profit, profit, more profit for manufacturers.

Considder that the last lead refining smelter shut down in Dec 2013 permenently.....do you think the price of ammo is going to come down?

Inflation, once its expensive it is never cheap again.
Will our sport survive? Yes.
Will it be afordable for the masses? More than likely it will become less and less so.
Should we all but now while we still can? Sure why not get there sooner rather than later, let's drive those prices up even higher....now.

Reloading since 1965 I have seen the supply of components go up & down. I have a SOP of always keeping a min. of 2-3 yrs. supply on hand .
This usually has worked OK for me. Recently , panic buying & hording have surely decreased supplies. This has changed my SOP to increase
my stock ,,,,,,,,,,,,, whenever I can. This has , in some cases , increased costs , as sails are less frequent. Also need to substitute components.

So ,,,,,,,,, get it when you can , as you can afford. I wonder when / if the panic buying will level off ? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Frank
