The Bayonet And Contemporary Rifles

Interesting… these mounts must have been made of vibranium to resist bending and shear forces involved, unless they are single use only OR decorative, lol
The geissele super stabby rail mount is a joke but the flash hider bayonet mounts are a proven design.

not sure which one will break first, the cantilever mount or the handguard? or the gun?
Does anyone know a good quality low profile Picatinny extension?

Well, Geissele says you need a minimum of 5 Picatinny Slots, so I suspect that with 2 or 3 Slots you are dangerously under-attached to your Rail with the Bayonet Mount. I suspect that the Bayo Mount will fail first, but really who knows? It could be any part of the interfaces that fails.

Okay guys, not letting this go yet.

Way back before my time (1962), the venerable FN FAL adopted the NATO 22mm grenade. This was done by changing out the long flash hider with a different muzzle device that the grenade would fit over.

As a result of the device, the then standard bladed bayonet was changed to a socket bayonet that simply slid over, and locked onto the muzzle device. Called the FAL type C socket bayonet.

So, understanding the FAL was .308 and the x95 is 5.56, could the 22mm device be fit to the x95 barrel?

If so, I'm certain a Type C bayonet could be sourced, and then Bob's your pokey uncle...Fix bayonets!?

9/16x24LH and m14x1LH are very close to the same thread, you may want to check the flash hider with a thread gauge before you buy an adapter to go to 1/2x28. Looks like the bayo can be sourced domestically but the flash hider and adapter are easier to find down south.

Are thread adapters (bushings) something that can be bought off the shelf?
