The benefits of the "Noveske Pig" on a bullpup

it works for what it was designed for... increase back pressure and improve cycling issues on afflicted shorty AR's.

Just to be clear, it is IMPOSSIBLE for any device to increase pressure in a rifle barrel. As the bullet travels down the barrel, the area into which the gas is expanding constantly increases. The laws of physics state that it is impossible to end up with a higher pressure in a larger volume given the same amount of gas.

A muzzle device like the KX3 "may" increase the pressure dwell time but it can NEVER increase the back pressure.

Having been through the design process on a like muzzle device I am somewhat scheptical about these devices ability to increase the dwell. The bore in the KX3 is huge and the expansion chamber is quite small with no gas diversion structures.

Typically what happens in a space like that is the expansion chamber pressurizes and then following gases simply flow down the bore and out of the device without being disrupted.

What a KX3 really does it direct blast forward which is useful on a short barreled PDW or carbine.

Here's a Chinese version of a "Gas Booster" type device that was on my T97 carbine. I didn't appreciate how well this device actually worked until I fired my 10.25" AR. It also worked very well to reduce flash. For a 12 inch barrel, muzzle blast was nothing compared to my AR.

The most similar device readily available to us would be the PWS CQB "Comp"

Well I decided to go with the Troy Claymore M/B after looking at all the options.. That should make the Tavors a little less obnoxious to my ears and the guy beside me..

IMO, the KX-3's do next to nothing
What ever happened to buying something just cause you like it? I always buy stuff that has no purpose, it's fun! half the firearm parts I buy are not practical, but i enjoy the way the look, or I enjoy the craftsmanship that went into building them.

...I'm with ajay! I enjoy owning & shooting paper targets with firearms I've purchased because of the way they "look".
So far, all of them have functioned well for the intended tasks I assigned them. YMMV

It's fine to buy stuff because you want it. The OP specifically asked for the factual benefits of the KX3, not it's looks.

Stand next to two guys with shorty AR's on a line up....one with a pig, and the other without one.......you'll understand the benifit rather quickly.

It's about directing the sound forward period.....doesn't matter if it's a 7" barrel, 18" barrel, or something that's a bullpup......noise matters to people next to you. Only thing worse is a guy running a muzzle break on a short barreled AR shooting rapid strings.....eventually it gets a little annoying for the other people near by :p

Absolutely nothing wrong with buying something because it looks good, or just because you like some odd feature of it. The problem comes when people start recommending based on those opinions.

That's what I mean when I find it hard to recommend the KX3... they just don't do that much. I think it's kind of funny to see people throwing them onto 11.5" barrels... and it makes them almost as long as a 14.5". Probably should have just bought a longer barrel and been done with it.

I can agree with you on that. When I bought my KX3, it was not out of consideration for other people beside me at the range. To be honest, I totally bought it because I liked how it looked on my 10.5 inch AR.I'm betting 1/2 the stuff people here buy for their AR is due to looks, that's half the fun of owning an AR, you can dress it up however you like.

I just don't like when other gun owners guilt trip a guy for buying that type of stuff, saying that if something doesn't have a practical use, how dare they buy it or enjoy it.

It's like saying nobody needs a car that goes over 100km/h since that's the speed limit!?!

IMHO,buy what makes you happy, it's your cash, and your range time.:)
