So, I bought one without much thought. Planned on going Major in IPSC. I thought that the first shot would be DAO and then Single, Duh! My present IPSC pistol is a Beretta 92FS in 9mm. So what I will do, is practice with the 96 (cause that first shot is always a b!tch) and continue (for the time being) with shooting minor with the FS. I know you can change out the hammer etc to make the pistol similar to a 92FS but without any safety. Anyone know if that would be legal for IPSC?

You cant shoot major in production divison, to shoot major you would need to move to standard division which is dominated by single action guns and would put the DAO at a very sizable disadvantage. I think changing the 96 DAO to da/sa is more work than just replacing the hammer and even if you did you would still be scored minor shooting the .40 in production division.
