The Beretta CX4 Thread

I've been looking at a restricted CX4 that I first noticed in our LGS for $995 reduced to $895 last spring. As of Friday it has still found no takers. Are the restricted models that much less desirerable than the NR version? If BNIB NR's are 1059-1099 what's a reasonable price to pay for a restricted that's been kicking around a store for awhile? Didn't I read some where on here about Wolverine clearing out their restricteds for $599 when the NR's arrived a year or so ago?

Secondly, I've almost exclusively been a handgun shooter up until now (other than a stock 10/22) and know next to nothing about optics for these. What's the advantage of a red dot over a magnified scope? These old eyes need all the help they can get and a 3-9x has made all the difference on my Rugar .22 (I'm thinking shooting at 50-100yards)

Just bought a NR 9mm from Canadian Tire for $1099 and dont regret it at all. I already did a flashlight mod, you can see it under the flashlight thread I posted. This is a well made rifle and should serve me well over the years. I was looking for a light, practical and modern brush gun along side my Remington 870 for protection and camping expeditions up north and I think this rifle fits the criteria well, ammo also had to be cheap and easy to acquire. I used to carry a Marlin 1894c in .357 but it was not semi auto and I dont like the iron sights on it. I plan to get a small holographic reflex sight on the CX4 but I'm just not sure which one yet. I'd like something relatively inexpensive yet well built.

Anybody who's received theirs from the new or original batch, care to post pics of their chosen optic and sling set up? And why they chose them?

I see there's been a few posted but let's keep em coming. The delta point, M21 and RSA seem to be good options...

Thinking of an EoTech for mine, and a single point bungee sling. Any pics of the sight picture with an EoTech mounted?

A CX-4 Berreta restricted is hardly a range toy, we have great AR's for that, on the other hand a CX-4 NR is priceless to shoot around the farm or the summer place, this is a no brainer decision... JP.

+1 ^ This thread needs more pics in general. I'm still flip flopping on what optic to use.

Got myself a Shield mini for my 29, this optic should be great on the CX-4... JP.

Caramel, how would you say the quality of the Shield mini compares to Aimpoint/Meprolight/EoTech/Hensoldt etc? I see TI has these in stock but I have never heard of them until your post.

It would be interesting to see what barrel shrouds would be available as well, I've seen some pretty wicked looking ones on google images, and beretta USA sells one too. That or having the barrel threaded for a brake would add a lot to this rifle IMO

I have also enquired about getting some factory 10/30 mags for these.

I asked Stoeger about getting an OEM Beretta shroud. They said they will not import them because they don't want to create any possible legal hassles for Canadian buyers. Yeah, that answer didn't make any sense to me either. I picked up a Moerse Lekker shroud instead. Looks great, good price and import was no problem.

The Shield mini look to be top shelve quality, the self adjusting brightness, is the fastest of all those i have Hendsolt/ Delta Point/ Bushnell/, the 65 MOA-one MOA reticule is just awsome and very easy to pickup while moving fast on target...
I think at around 500.00 for it with the chosen base is a great value for the money, happy i got this one... JP.

Thanks for your reply. I checked out the website and I am definitely interested in them. Just to clarify as I have yet to see different lengths on their website and their pictures look like they are shrouds that fit our restricted length models. Do you have a picture you could post of yours? Do you have the NR version?

Cheers

Good news. My TRS-25 will have to tide me over until my optics budget opens up. Nothing wrong with the TRS-25. Great little red dot but this carbine may deserve an upgrade in the future

I had one on another gun before and found the dot a bit blurry/not really a dot, if that makes any sense? Anyway it was an ok optic and the battery lasted forever. For the CX4 however, I am going to invest in a Vortex Sparc II or Strikefire II

I have found mine to be a bit blurry as well if the brightness setting is too high but I've had a great experience with it thus far. Mine is the older version with the tan logo. It will hold me over until I decide on a high quality optic to top my Storm. So many to choose from.....
