Yes I made it up so I can be an internet hero with a gun I sold

just my 2 cents -- my Sako AV with standard bbl in 375 AI got a little over 2900 ft/s with a 300 gr Sierra I believe -- no pressure signs at all and very very accurate
Many did not believe until they saw it with their own eyes. David Henry did the fantastic re-chamber job and as he says: it shoots like it shoots - dont worry about it.
I backed it off a bit, in case it went overseas with me, to shoot around 2850 ft/s. Shot a 2 1/2 yr old moose at 100 yds from stern to bow and never found the bullet as it passed through the chest and kept on going,
Very nice round in my opinion -- absolutely nothing wrong with any of the others tho - whatever you like. I have to agree that for the price and being able to get a left handed version, the Rugers are quite good
Did anyone say the 375 winchester?
My basic argument remains tho -- the 375 AI can get velocities close to RUMs or their ilk just as the Ruger or other more efficient rounds now do - without dangerous pressure.
The 375 RUM has about 10% more case capacity than the 375AI. Using Barsnes 4-1 rule, the RUM *should* have about 2.5% more velocity, but that small amount could easily be affected by other facotors including a "slow" barrel or longer barrel length or voodoo...![]()
Between my 375wby and 375 Ultra I find about 100-150fps difference with the 270gr bullets and a bit more with the 300's.
More than 2.5% but not much difference at all, really. I still don't know why Weatherby stopped making their 375, but I guess they wanted to sell the new 378
Fired cases probably have more than a 10% difference. My 375wby uses 86 grs of H-4350, where my 375 Ultra uses 106grs of RL-25....Obviously burn rate comes into play here, but the Wby can't use RL-25.
I didn't measure case capacity with water, I just took the info off the intraweb...![]()
Tried and true for over a hundred years.
