This is the best I've shot.

My Remington 700 .223 had 2520 rounds through it when I shot this group, it measures .679 for .455 net.

This is where I shot it from 309 yards away.

Here's the target board. The groups on the right side were from my son and my brother, it was a friendly, family competition.

When we hiked out to the target to see, I got so excited that I pulled the target. I regret not trying to back it up.

I shot this a few weeks ago but forgot all about it. When I found it tonight I figured I'd give myself a shameless pat on the back.:p

Rifle is Rem700 .223, trued etc, 28" Shillen throated for 90gr VLDs, RB trigger, AICS and an Mpod. Sightron 10-50x60 in Burris Zs with 10moa inserts, sitting on a 20moa EGW.
Load is 80gr Berger VLD over 24.8gr Varget, BR primer, Nosler brass, OAL 2.535, 2840fps.

I think I'm jealous of just about everything there is in those pictures, well done! I shoot 80gr Bergers as well and I think they are awesome.

Yup, same here, I shoot 80vld over CFE223. Nice shooting. I still have a bit of struggle at long distance, last F-Class event next weekend, we'll see !

Thanks guys.
Ya I'm pretty happy with the 80s and the 82 BTHP too. I built the gun to shoot the 90s, but in my experience they're too high maintenance. When I re-barrel I'll have it throated for 80s loaded long.

Good luck to you Bob, are you using the 80s in F?

Hope I'm not out of place here. But what is the advantage of chamber ing a barrel for a specific load... Are you gaining a lot over a "basic" setting which would allow you to chamber a variety of options? I suspect there's certain limitations when going super specific?

The landscape pictures are Fab.. the shooting is great you should be happy happy..

that is a fantastic group!! if you never repeat that tight again, oh well. some go a lifetime and never get that tight.
looks to me like you have a pretty good chance of being consistant there though, i doubt it will be long before your posting similar groups again! lee

80-90gr vld's are really long, shorter chambers you'd have to sit the bullet way back. I had this same thing done for that reason.

My gun also likes the 80gr vld's as well, I'm shooting benchmark powder though, it's all I had available. Getting promising results out to 500m

Are you still able to run AI / bdl mags with the long and heavy round?

I have the AI 10 round composite mags and the 80gr seems to clear no problem. I don't know my OAL, but the ogive is 2.020.
There is a small amount of room left, maybe an 1/8th

Hi Craig, I apologize for not answering your Q. I've had my head up my asz for the last day or two.
Thanks for taking the lead there dastt.

Thanks again for the kind words all, I'm fortunate to have found this spot. We have 300, 600 and 700yd target boards all there. This spot is 1 hour from home and hidden in plain sight. :) Our other targets are 10km up the road from here.
