The Best Lee Enfield Rifle???

Hey Bruce - remind me to let you shoot a real un-messed with Longbranch at the next milshoot for comparisson purposes... :)

PS: It's almost beer time!

I havn't had the pleasure of shooting an unissued LE or many other variations of the "best rifle on earth " , but I do know what is the best shooter of the 7 I do own , which is my '43 LB .
This is a rifle I literally grew up with and hunted with 35yrs . On the range or hunting Bruce County's cedar swamps , this rifle has been through alot with me .
I won't trade this fella for anything ,

The best Enfield to "me" is my 1924 Lithgow III*.:D I think it is unique because the stock of the rifle was never finished with oil. It is just like it was pulled off the assembly line in 1924 and it is in mint condition. The original packing material is still in the barrel and all of the numbers match.

If you could only have one, which one would it be and why?
The 1950 Long Branch 95L serial number residing in my gun safe - one of the last of the best.

Because it's Canadian, fine workmanship, will put 10 Greek HXP Ball into just a little over 4" at 300 yards, will do just about as well with my cast bullet load... and because it's mine.

I'd like to have a sniper variant just to have one, but it probably wouldn't go to the range nearly as often as this Long Branch does.

Lee Enfield #1

My dad has my grandpa's old $15 surplus .303 that he has had "forever". I just recently looked at what model it was. It says 1897 Sparkbrook Lee Enfield No. 1. The metal and bore are alright, but the wood isn't that great. There is a sideways hole in the front stock that looks like a bolt used to go through it. I can take pictures next time I visit them.

From the little bit of info on here it sounds like this is not a very common one?
was it really manufactured in 1897? The serial number is just shy of 22,000.

ps. We have 3-4 magazines for it and it does look fun to shoot. I haven't yet.

Is the enfield in your hands when you're working in extreme remote locations. It just feels good at that point to have that enfield right there.

The best Enfield rifle

It has to be the one you love the most, whichever model. The Longbranch is special to all Canadians though, and I wasn't talking about Geoff either. Even though he is special in his own way....:D

My '56 Fazakerly No.4 Mk.2 which I had out yesterday. I was hitting the gong at 375 with DA 51. It was a great Canada Day morning. :D
