Those Antarctica pics are awesome! May I ask what had you over there? looks as though you were touring all the bases, I didnt realize so many countries set up (presumably research facilities?) there

Yes, these are mostly all research bases. Union Glacier(the tent camp) is a tourism only spot. I was flying for a company called Kenn Borek Air. I flew the DHC-6 twin otter. I spent 3 winters( Antarctica summers) down there for 3-4 months at a time.

Now you've done it !!!!!! You got me going again...........so what would be the possibility of stowing away on your otter and.....................................Borek looking for any Antarctic pilots? Already have the multi rating just need a type check...........;)

We likely know some of the same folks, couple people I knew recently flew for Borek (I fly rotary, previous company I worked for had a fixed wing side). Thanks for sharing the photos! Oh, and just last shift pointed a Borek DC3 jumpship to fires in our area of BC. Interesting show to watch from the air, the smoke jumpers. I would kill to get to Antarctica one day, envious.

…and you have a particular skill with a camera, blueoval. :)

It's a very small world. Especially when you start to travel around it a couple times, it seems to get even smaller! Antarctica was my greatest adventure and I'm glad I brought my camera! Thanks for the kind words.
I'm sure we know some of the same people, aviation is such a small group. I don't fly down there anymore. I traded in my parka for a white shirt and 3 mile runways. I dont get frostbite flying jets ;)

Cloud cover let in only a band of light. Hit the top of the trees for a bit, and then faded as the sun rose above the clouds.
