The Best Pump 12 Gauge

If reliability is part of the equation, I'd have to go with Benelli Nova. That gun is impossible to jam, short stroke, or have a malfunction with in any other way. I tried everything from cycling empty shells to stroking the action really slowly as I was holding the gun upside down and it worked every time. The same could not be said about the 870 Marine Magnum I used to have.

That's not true.

I've seen one jam up so hard that it had to be taken apart with a live shell still in it.

The breech block was part way open.

My vote is the 870 - Wingmaster or Express.

I agree, Nova's are a good gun.

I just don't think they have been around long enough to really have proven themselves. Show me a 50 year old Nova with 10's of thousands of rounds through it, and then I will put them in the same league as a Wingmaster.

Also, the add on's and aftermarket stuff for 870's is awesome.

My 870 Wingmaster performs flawlessly, and I have yet to have something go wrong with it. Bought it used for $150 and it's in excellent condition.

What's 'best' for you? Lightness? Balance? Weight to offset 10 ga. magnums? Tradition? Wood or plastic? Fit? Reliability? Durability? Do you want something you throw in the back of the truck bed or a fancy trap gun? Where does price fit with you?

We need more info, otherwise all you get is people telling you what gun they've got.

Over 6 million Remington 870's have been produced and who knows how many copies. That has to tell you something.

+1 on the 870 Wingmaster.

I'm an 870 guy all the way. That being said,is VII the only other guy besides me to remember the Model 12?Not a bad little pump gun if I remember right!:D

I'm with Rohann, post Number 26.

Identical situation for me.

I want another one so my first one won't get rusted up in the salt marsh.

i have an 870 from the 70's i like the way the action feels but my mossberg 500 turkey fits me perfectly i suggest u go down to a gun shop and look at all of them and see wich one YOU like the best. thats what i did.

If you want something reliable... go with the RYS!
It's not pretty, but it works every time.

Mike.
Yes, that's true and it's a pity that Armrus has been closed because their "ugly duckling" with the foldable stock was about the most uncommon and reliable combat shotgun ever fielded.:(
