The best scope for your battle rifle at medium range

The 3200 is what i consider the starting point for "low end" optics on the scope pounding m14
By low end i refer to cost only, and i'm mainly speaking to those equipping for hunting applications
If i was going to buy an optic today I would look at the new leupolds with the caliber specific turrets

I was looking for ARMS # 22 throw lever rings for my shorty project and they had this scope on the same page ... what do others think or do you have experience with one???

I just picked one up on the EE. Cost around $2000.
Oh ya, it came with an Robarms XCR under it tho.
Actually I am kind of liking it. It's a little heavy but i love the reticle. I think they are around $3 or $400 new.
Coming from you, I'll consider it seriously. Did you handle the XTR156? It would be nice to compare them.
Edit: I looked for that Leupold. The BDC reticle is for .223. Did you get a custom reticle from Leupold or found your actual value for the aiming points?
The tritium front sight is at least the width of the standard sight. Maybe you should use a standard rear sight, especially if you choose a short barrel or GLFS.

Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 with semi target turrets. They've gone down in price from $1200 to under $1000 in the last three years. Spend the rest of your money on a quality mount, rings, accurizing, and ammunition.
Sadly not but I played with the great NXS 1-4x. However I was looking for a little extra magnification to strech to 5-600m.
I wanted to avoid the dual optic to keep it simple and light but...
ARMS 22 rings also have the option for a rail.
Just found the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32 is now offered with a BDC reticle. They call it the Velocity reticle because there's 3 version to best fit your rifle/caliber. Then you use their online program to optimize it.
With a MRD this would make a fine setup too...
My M4 came with BDC turrets for 308, 223 and 300 win. I have not found the 308markings correct for a 20" LTR shooting Norma 168 gr HPBT match. Your muzzle velocity and BC have to be correct for them to work. Once you know how many MOA are required for your load and rifle at each range you don't need the markings. You should be able to commit them to memory or keep a card. We all have log books for our guns right? Thats how we know when we sell them they only have 20 rounds down the pipe.
If you have a zero stop it can be a good thing to set up your scope that your zero at 100yds is 1 MOA on hot days so you have somewhere to go in colder weather when your ammunition does not perform quite as well. This also will throw off the BDC turrets.
