There were V.C.'s awarded for actions in Afghanistan, just none by Canada. Australia and Britain did for sure.

New Zealand also awarded a VC in Afghanistan for the typical VC stuff. SAS soldier Willie Apiata repeatedly rescuing soldiers under very heavy fire. Interestingly a Maori soldier so I think the system might finally be starting to work.

On a similar note, a lone Ghurka soldier recently earned the VC in Afghanistan.
