The Hatsan / Optima MP-A TS will be what I buy if/when I go for a semi 12G. Thanks for the info peoples !
Post pics of your upgrades!
Seeing as I was partially responsible for pushing wayupnorth in this direction... Here's mine as it stands. After blowing through a ridiculous amount of ammo in a surprisingly short period of time with it at the range today (100 target loads, 50 double ought, and a 10 slugs, just because), I brought it home and gave it a good cleaning. Then out came the spray bomb. It's going to my club 3-gun match next week, and I just couldn't have it completely clash with my AR. Normally, I wouldn't spray bomb a gun (this is a first for me), but something about this shotgun says "DO IT MAN!" I dunno if it's the price point (got it on sale for $350) or what, but...
Anyway, here's how she stands.
- Hatsan MPA TS.
- Replaced the stock with one of the adjustable ones from Corwin-Arms - It has a slightly straighter comb than the one that came from the factory, which fits a personal preference. Also has a built in shell holder.
- Removable sidesaddle shell holder from S&J Hardware.
- "Canada Legal" tube extension from S&J Hardware. The shotgun is chambered for 3" magnums. With the extension, it can hold five, and just barely not six, 3" magnum shells - and that's what keeps it all legal. It can hold six, and not quite seven, 2&3/4" double ought. It can just barely hold seven 2&3/4" score brand target loads - which are just a bit shorter than the 00 Buck shells.
That's about it. I tried running it with a Red Dot (Aimpoint PRO I have that isn't attached to anything else at the moment), but truth is, the sights are so nice on this gun, that there really wasn't any advantage, so I took it off.
Here's pics of it from the left, right, and with it's lil' buddy.

i just contacted S&J and sent them a pic of my tube and they said it woudnt work with their mag extender.
just wondering if you have the same tube that i have.

i had no idea this was such a can or worms!
i wonder if the King Armory one is the long thread variation?
finally went onto days off today and a bunch of us took our new toys out to play with.
oh boy are these are fun shotguns to shoot!
before i knew it i had blown through 100 rounds.
now my shoulder is reminding me every time i go to lift my drink, haha!
Mine doesn't have the space between the threads and the end of the fore-end. SorryBut yah, the mag extender likely wouldn't work for you. No idea why Hatsan does this (tow different thread patterns on the same gun, depending on when it came off the production line), but it's a real shame, because it makes it hard to keep accessories sorted out.
I actually asked S&J about it in their sub-forums, and badboybeeson posted links to existing pics to show the difference between the two styles:

funny side note to this topic.
3 of us at work ordered the Hatsan gun.
2 of them have the longer thread with the gap and 1 has the short thread pattern.
all guns from the same gun store and all apparently from the same 'batch'.
i love little to no consistency.
it makes everyday new!
