The big game chambering with the longest uninterrupted reign in your safe

I carried a 7m/m RM Remington 700 SSDM almost exclusively from 1999-2010 before switching to a number of model 70 Winchester's. Prior to that a .280 Remington Mountain Rifle was my "go to gun".

A 7x57 that has been mine for more than 40 years. My dad's old hunting rifle that has also accounted for a lot of game in my hands. Others have come and gone but that one stays.

I am 33 and started hunting in my 20's so I am a bit behind the 'more experienced' here:

30/06 - is my longest standing personal cartridge at 5 years

Before that I was hunting with a multi generational SRC in 30-30, but that is technically still my dad's

Okay well, Dave certainly has the age advantage here, seeing as we haven't heard from Bruce (H4831). In my gun owning career, I have never been without a 243 of one make or another for 43 years, 45-70 for 42 years, 22-250 for 41 years, 30-30 for 41 years. Beyond these 4 I have been a caliber whore, many, many have come and gone.........several 7mmRMs and 7mm wildcats, 300 Mags, countless other wildcats, several 6mm-284s, several 375s, many 30-06s (they are such a saleable cartridge, they're hard to hang onto) a couple 264 WMs.......257 Wby has been another constant companion for 35+ years now that I think of it.

Gotta say the lowly do everything, shot everything, have had it chambered in everything at one time or the other...308 Win. I have been using it since about 1974 or so. Next longest caliber in my safe is the old standby 7x57 Mauser which I stated to use about 1978 or so...followed a distant 3rd by the 338 Win Mag which has been in my safe since about the mid 90ies and still used for everything from Whitetails to Moose. Also in that mid 90ies time frame I have a 375 H&H I use as my alternate gun when Moose hunting up north...because sometimes you just need to change things up to change your luck...lol.

303 British, 45 years. Shot my first deer with my brothers #5, have had it since. I see most guns as tools that come and go often. Some have stuck around like a Sharps 50-90, ENfield 577-450, Ruger 77V 280, and a Bruno #3 22.

A Churchill No.1 Mk.3 since 1965. Canadian Centennial 30-30 carbine since purchased new in 1967. Also an 8mm-06 which was firstly an 8x57 purchased in 1965. Next would be my old .32WS since the 1990's. The .32 is my current whitetail rifle.

Have always had at least one 270 Winchester in the fold since 1964, and found it good for everything from groundhogs to grizzlies.

Always had a 222 since 1966, strictly for varmint hunting.

A couple of 9.3X62s have put many, many, tons of moose, caribou, woods bison, and both bears in the freezer since 1977.

First was a 303 Br. in 1962 followed by an 8X57 in 1964, still have both.
Then a 300 H&H in 1970 and a 375 H&H in 1974, still have both.
Somewhere in between a 35 Whelen when it was still a wildcat and in the latter 1980s a 257 Ackley, still have both of those.
And ever since the 223 became a commercial round I have never been without at least one if not more..
Countless others have come and gone, still do....
