The big game chambering with the longest uninterrupted reign in your safe

.280 Remington since 1995, though its been a safe queen since around 2008 and my niece has borrowed it these last couple of years. For actual uninterrupted shooting and use, .308 win in various platforms since around 2000. Though my dad's 12 guage sxs has been with me since around 1980.

Winchester Model 94 in 30-30. My father got it for me when I was 12 years old (many many years ago)…..still have it. Never get rid of it. Pass it onto my son.

The one and only Sanata Barbara M1000 chambered in 7x57. I've only been hunting since December 2012, so three seasons with this rifle. Have yet to harvest anything with it though. My first deer was taken in Alberta with my grandfather's custom build Lee-Enfield No. 1 MK 3 chambered in 303 British. The only other big game rifle I own is a Lee-Enfield No. 4 MK 1 Savage sporter conversion.

I've had an on and off relationship with collecting everything for the past 10+ years now... There was about. A year that I didn't have a 30-06 in the past 18 years. I've had a 257 weatherby since 2006 so that would put it right about 10 years now... Also bought a 30-06 when the M70's came back in 2007, so its also pushing 8+ in my safe...

Longest prior to that was my 50 AE desert eagle, but with all the crap with the swiss arms and figuring we were going to have a liberal or dipper govt got me nervous, so I traded it last year around this time.

I've had a 270 since 1989, same rifle. Dad bought it for me as my first big game rifle. It will never be sold.

I had a 308 for a few years (BLR) but sold it on. Great cartridge, though.

The two new ones in the safe this year are (1) a Husky in .366 Wagner, purchased from the man himself (including one of his famous custom recoil pads); and (2) a Savage 340 in 30-30 to use as a take-down rifle for island blacktails. I call the 30-30 my Winchester 30-30 short (non) magnum, because I trim the brass extra short in order to use the 110gr TTSX. That combo worked wonders on blacktail this fall - bought it on the EE, did the load development, and used it successfully within a few weeks. I think both are going to stick around for quite a while.

Here's the Husky on the Dease River earlier this year - unfortunately Bullwinkle eluded us, but I was happy to have more than a 270 when a grizzly came in on my moose call!

My dad bought me my first rifle in 1987 - a .308 BAR. So 28 years.

I've strayed a bit and tried others, but I'm learning to love this cartridge again.
