The black bear king of the internet thread.

trying this coming saturday, opening season on Friday. southern slopes are bare already, bears sighted in many places. will try with a 30-06 and 3-9x40. 180 grains nosler partition and 200 grains.

I just go a call I got a good Union job in Prince Rupert and I am not going to get any time to hunt this spring sorry Tom this seems to happen more and more to me these days not complain just disappointed

Good luck out there guys. An other month to wait here for season to open but heading up to my spot in a couple weeks to start the baits. Been messing around with making some simple bear suckers. Made a small prototype to get the process down so now to make a few full size suckers to hang out at the baits. Really looking forward to getting up to the line to get things going.

OK guys I shot a nice bear this evening, looks like it may be the first entry in the competition...............He squared 6 1/2' with approx. a 19" skull and weighed a guesstimate of about 350 lbs. I'm too beat tonight to post pics but will get on it tomorrow. Nice shot at about 400 mtrs at the top of my pasture from a nice rest on the corner of my porch with a 7mm RUM 160 gn AB. Top of the heart gone and he sacked then jumped up and ran about 50 ft, found him stone dead 20' on the outside of my pasture fence. Fun night, ran up and fetched him with the Ranger.........took 3 of us to get him in the back.......ran back down, had dinner then took him up to the shop and skinned and gutted him on my welding table.........tough night, have him hanging from the forklift cooling for the night.

NA, NA NA, NA NA, NA..........I got the first bear, must be because I'm a SOMA elder................:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Well congrats on the first entry "King/Interim King."

Share some photos with us when you can.

It's officially on gents.

Shooting the bear last night might help reduce the goat hunting nightmares brought on by the goat hunting story I felt compelled to recite over on the goat hunting thread. Maybe I won't need any donations for my therapist after all.........

Ok, so I decapitated him and cleaned most of the meat from the skull so I could get an honest measurement and he scores an honest 18 6/8".

And I had left over backstrap and eggs this am for breakfast............OUTSTANDING !!!!!

My hunting partner and I have agreed we will be staying out until last light or a bear is killed this wednesday.

Hoping I will be the next one posting a picture in this thread.
