All 3 for only 50 UK pounds? $85 Canadian? I was on it like a hungry fox. Thanks Londonshooter, I've been wanting the set and the next best price I could find was a bit more for used and battered editions, or a boxed set of new ones for US$300.* This is a fantastic deal for these remarkably researched and detailed books.

Speed tip: if paying by credit card on this site, you have to put in spaces for the card numbers. I'm more used to the system doing that for me, but I guess not the done thing in the UK and their steam powered software. A minor annoyance of course, but I had to start all over with the card info.

*the set seen in the photo I think, same books but in a box.

Great find John. I just ordered a set as well.

I paid over $100 each for my copies of British Gunmakers Vol 1 & 2 by Nigel Brown. The third volume was recently published and I haven't got around to it yet. This buy will scratch that itch for a while.

I had borrowed and read all three and recently bought a used volume two. Ended up on their site while trying to find a copy of Baker's Gunmaker of York. 9 pounds shipping for 4 books seemed pretty reasonable. Will see what happens with customs re: GST.
(Anyone looking for a relatively expensive used Crudgington volume 2?)

I think every book and in fact most every item I've ordered from overseas online has passed through Canada Customs unmolested, three new books at a time might be treated differently of course.

One thing I enjoyed in Volume One was the account of a big debate that broke out in the pages of an English sporting magazine in about 1860, where the virtues of muzzle loaders vs the then-new breech loaders was fiercely debated for I think years (the breech loaders won the day). The exchanges quoted were remarkably like what happens on CGN today, only a lot more drawn out because done by the magazine via the Royal Mail. Le plus ca change, n'est-ce pas?

I got 3 separate emails confirming shipment of my order- I wonder if this means that they're shipping them individually?

EDIT: Never mind, 3 stages of order status, 2 only minutes apart. They are thorough at keeping one informed.

Thanks for the heads up, books are ordered, now if I could only find Graeme Wright's book Shooting the british double rifle for a bargain like that I would be a happy camper

My 3 volume set arrived from the UK this afternoon, triple wrapped and then with each book mint and sparkling in its original British style cellophane wrapper. Nothing owing to customs either, the package went direct to my mailbox.

Thanks again to the OP, Londonshooter, and -not being a guy that participates in the Exchange stuff here or anywhere- I have to say that it's this sort of information that makes participation in this often aggravating website both worthwhile and rewarding.

yeah, sorry, now on back order after Punkkinen's books ship. Printer says a few months after clearing the Nigel Brown Vol. 3 logjam next year some time for any purchaser with surname R to Z.

Seems like blatant alphabetical discrimination of the type no longer allowed in Canadian schools! (Kids whose last names were at the end of the alphabet were always sat at the back of the room, like index cards).

Looking through my set quickly, I see that V 3 actually has some colour photos and stuff in it. What a break from the staid British tradition!

Apparantly John, your intelligence data was faulty. The discriminatory backlog starts at S.

I note that mine was closely inspected and very badly repacked by Customs. They probably thought there was a shotgun in that little box.

BB, my British Gunmakers Volume 1 & 2 by Nigel Brown have plenty of beautiful colour photography. The volumes are dense with data but there is a section for photos.

At the price, I can believe it.
