The Brixia (Valtro) PM5 super thread!

Jeff at Grizzly Gunworks in Ontario makes these. He duplicated the threads perfectly. This brake is suppose to offer a 60% recoil reduction. Can't wait to test it!

...and yes, I fully realize how obnoxiously overdone/overkill this brake is....exact reason why I bought it ;)

Very nice! SO it looks like you didnt have to mill out the brake to make room for the pumps guide tube after all  It wouldve been cool to witness it at the 3 gun match with the brake.

Yeah, I was watching the tracking info like a hawk, wishing and hoping it would get delivered early! Ahh oh well, I'll have it out for the end July match....along with some chokes that just shipped today from Italy.

It's looks like he turned down the outer diameter on about half of the threaded portion. The stock photos on his website show the brakes retaining the same full diameter all the way to the base. No extra charge for the needed lathe work.

This is his clamp on style (no threads needed), but you get the idea. Mine is threaded with one clamping bolt. No need for a crush washer or d|cking around getting it clocked right

Great! yah I messaged him about getting one as well. But I think ill go with the Defcon 1 style if possible. Door breachers look cool , but in my experience they eat the sh!t out of Vehicle carpets and gun cases haha

Just curious since I'd like to buy a Brixia, do you think Tac Ord would be able to install one of their muzzle devices on it? Since they'd have to thread the outside of the barrel anyways, how tough would it be to match threads?

Cheers,
Wes

I doubt that would be a problem for Casey. Jeff at Grizzly Gunworks requested I send him the thread protector so he could be 100% certain, but any decent machinist/gunsmith will be able to match threads.

I am NOT going to RO for you in July :)

That brake looks sick. Can you email me the info on where you got it from and model number and such?

Reminds me of the zombie brake for the AR15

Whaaaaat? Don't like running that much? haha

Honestly, I feel kind of bad when I would get a slightly less athletic RO...

Running? No, i am fine with that.
I just dont want to stand beside you when you fire that new noise maker of yours.

Pishhh..... running..... let me just tell you.... you owe me beer :)

Chokes should actually be here by then, so no need to fret ;)

Don't necessarily need them...but I like options. CHAS has some heavier plates and spinners that can be a little more challenging to get moving if you're not getting dead centre impact.

I'd also like the shotgun to be somewhat capable for hunting as well as clays. I ordered two sets, normal length and long ones (120mm or 4.7"). I think I'll keep the long ones, which will effectively bump the barrel length up to 18ish" and should yield a slight boost in velocity.

Finally got to try out the new muzzle brake and smash some clays! The difference in recoil is amazing! I think I'll stop looking for a recoil pad. Shot off a few slugs after and it was great.

Who says you can't hit clays with a short barrelled "tactical" shotgun ;)

I re-uploaded an edited version.

I was surprised at how well the cylinder bore did! Just had to engage them quickly before they sailed out of range lol

Nice, looks nice and flat when you shoot it.
How loud is it?

I really didn't notice any increase in noise. Concussion also wasn't that bad. The muzzle brake on my XCR feels like it throws a lot more concussion rearward.

Although my buddy did get a chunk of something (carbon maybe) peg him in the forehead from the brake hah.

Gotta love photobucket's retarded move.... Im working on switching everything over to google photos. I doubt I'll ever get around to re-posting all the photos in this thread, but if you'd like to see something specific just ask and I'll provide a working link lol

anyways, here is a random test photo from google+ (my 4runner all cleaned up haha)
