Bummer..
Looks like I won't be able to post on the CQB on the 12".

Fitted w/ the conventional foregrip, the forestock will require some mods to cycle the action. With the ERGO Pict rail forestock, cycling does't appear to be an issue.

For those looking to swap out forestocks, or mod your 14" CQB to your new Grizz... a couple of quick observations:

1) The Grizz fore end tube assembly (item 28 on the 870 parts diagram) seems to be a couple thou oversize; my ERGO Pict forestock fits, no prob, but I've got to shave some poly off the inside of the FAB forestock for fitting.
I don't have the micrometer readings, as I wasn't smart enough to take them in the front end, and pulling apart the forestocks are a royal PITA...if anyone wants the measurements, I'll strip them down (again...) Sunday.
Your 'as issued' Grizz forestock will bind on the CQB barrel clamp, as it has to ride above your fore end tube assembly.

2) The CQB Buttstock adaptor crowds the saftey, big time. I didn't notice it until today, but it looks like this can be solved with either a 'stock sling plate adapter' mounted between the CQB and the end of the reciever (as long as the loops ride 'high'...), or filing a bit of the 'hook' off the CQB @ the interface.

Haven't shot her yet, as the pistol grip was sacrificed to the Norc CQ311 that arrived first, and was screaming for a furniture change...
Hopefully after I can get the 'back end' sorted out...

I know :needPics:, but the ones I have are pretty basic.

well goot to hear your all most done with your build.
one of the down sides of th norinco or grizz copy of the 870 is that not everything is in spec.
As you stated with the forend isssues.
The cqb rail and adaptor is spec for the remington 870, and has fitted on most of the norincos, but i guess QC is not the same on the china made guns.
I think the knock offs are great but soem times i think a mod maybe needed on the area around the safety to give it the 1/2 mm more room.
I may run a batch to fit just the norincos.

Great, now we're going to end up with a bunch of REM fore-ends out there, that are too big for the REM fore-end tube assembly.

:shakes head:

excellent, the forend is not an issue whatsoever with the ergo railed forend.
as mentioned the safety required some minor filing, but that takes 2 minutes with a small file:)
my only other issue was where the brobee adapter meets the receiver via the aluminum adapter plate.
on mine, the grip adapter wouldn't sit flush, rather the top was out about an1/8" (and you saw silver aluminum between the gap) and bottom(near the trigger)was flush.
all it took was to slightly re-radius the 2 bottom curves on the adapter plate so that it would sit about a 1/16" closer to the trigger group nub thing(if that makes any sense).
works like a charm.
as to the rail, it sits about 1/2" past the muzzle.
what would it roughly cost to have a gunsmith machine off that 1/2" of rail, and if done, would you need to finish the cut portion?
thanks
hutchster
btw i would add pics to aid my description but can't locate my camera

hutchster:

If you cut that rail, you are going to need to refinish it as its anodized (or however you spell it) aluminum.

I would be inclined to send BBB a pm and see if he can help you out there.

My Brobee build is just about finished and I will be posting some pics once fully completed.

While I started this build with foliage green furnature, I have decided to go with Black all the way and was able to find a Vltor Clubfoot in black with a sling swivel, and just waiting on my ergo grip.

I have a tri-rail forend, but I must admit I am coming to prefer the positive grip of the Houge over-molded forend. Further testing and shooting will tell.

Keep the the build pics coming.

Beeson - it would appear that more Nutz than just me want a rail that's flush with the 12.5" Grizzly guns! We'll have to see how that works out.

My stock arrived today for the build, so the MIAD and optic are all that remains - besides the adapter and rail, of course. ;)

i wasn't too keen on the grip of the tri rail(ergo) either so i put an ergo vertical stubby grip on it and much prefer it.
as to the rail, i'm gonna send BBB a pm and see if i can swap rails with him for a shorter one so i don't pooch this one, and if not then i can live with a 1/2" overhang.
too long is almost always better than too short:D

Hutchster:

LOL, I could not agree more.

I have previously used the YHM folding 3 position VG. I like it, but at the time I was too broke to get any rail covers. My forend is a little different than most, as it was the the prototype from Ballan when he worked at Dlask, and according to him was the last of any they would make. For the price, it came with out any rail covers.

I may just put it back on, and have some lader covers coming for my AR build, that just might find their way on to the Brobee. My problem is, that If I use the tri-rail fro grip, I have this overwhelming urge to mount a stupidly bright green laser, and Im thinking that might just be to tacky. :D

Mr PH:

Before I begin I must say I have seen much of your work my friend, and for what its worth, you build nice stuff.

WRT optics are you using BUIS & optics or just optics, and if so what kind.

Hey guys,
Just got an answer on my PM to Simon (BBB).
He'll do the cut down and GunKote refinish for us, if you're looking for that shorter rail, provided he can line up 6 rails.
I'm in for one at the shorter length, plus an additional butt stock adapter, as I don't want to mess with my 16.5" set up (It'll be moving onto a 16.5" mag fed, once CanAm's spring order arrives...). He's also got the pistol grips and adjustable stocks, if you don't want to wait for your US order to arrive..;)
Drop him a PM, and he'll get you on the list.

AS you can tell from his post above..:slap::wave:
