The Browning BT-100 single barrel trap gun

A buddy of mine had one in the stainless version. Really nice mild recoiling gun to shoot even with 3 dram loads. I recently found out he sold it and went to a CG combo. Wished I'd known he was selling it. Great find once again. You'll like it!

The stainless versions are very sought after apparently. I have never seen one for sale. This one caught my attention because of the condition. Most of the BT series guns are well used im assuming because they worked so well. The cost of a new one seems excessive. But maybe they are worth it.

Everything is excessively priced any more. If you find a used gun in that condition at a good price scoop it. There isn't a lot of difference between the 100 and the 99 and both are proven reliable platforms that can withstand a lot of rounds. Congrats on a great score!

I have shot a few BT 99’s over the year’s excellent $ value
Also had a Superposed ST 100 nice gun

Only ever saw a picture of one of those in article in Shotgun Digest when it was introduced. Way ahead of it's time like a lot of Browning designs that never caught on but whose features became popular decades later! Always wanted to try one of those. Rare as hen's teeth to find one of them.

18788625[/URL]]So what's the difference between the BT99 and the BT100?

Often fancied having a BT99 with a 26'' barrel... as a chasing-grouse-single...

I think the BT-100 has a removable trigger group and when they came out they had a higher rib than a 99 but lots of high rib 99's available nowadays. If not then I've no idea honestly other than I personally found the 100 a better fit for me and a nicer pointing gun.

Not really suitable for hunting - no safety.

Well, I'm probably not the smartest guy in the world... but I've often walked around orchard/fields looking for grouse... with a shotgun with no safety...

Maybe I should have picked that Remington 90T (Kolar) single a few years back...

Silly Mike you may hunt using a gun with no safety ( alone?) but would you advise others with varying proficiency, experience and degrees of responsibility to do the same?

Yeah, I see your point... We're on the Internet and the lowest denominator can actually be pretty low.
- Walking in a field/open space/dirt road is one thing... I wouldn't suggest it, to fight your way through some shrubs and recent growth.

But I'd still like something like a BT99/BT100 with a +/- 26'' barrel and mod choke... to use to chase grouse in the fall :)

They made BT 99’s with 30” barrels but if you want 26” you’re going to need to get a longer one shortened ( additional complication because of the ventilated rib) and then bored for your Modified choke. It would be very pretty but heavy and poorly balanced for hunting. But if you want one all it takes is the will and a pocket full of money like any other custom gun.
