The Browning Hi Power Mk 2: initial thoughts and observations

When JMB’s last design was finished it was overly complicated but the basic elements were there. Upon JMB’s death at FN, Saive was designated to finish the design, simplify it, & ready it for production.
Saive’s final design changes were completed in 1935, ready for the French government new pistol trials. Ultimately the French declined the P35, but others saw the brilliance of the melding of the two designers efforts. It remains a classic 9mm pistol. Saive later designed the FN FAL.
The rest is history.

(On a person note, the “teeter-totter” trigger sear design is one of the worst ever designed. The BHP is the only auto that has this setup, & nobody has ever copied it because its just awful.)

I bought one when the ex israeli police military batch came through, it is supposed to be a Mkii has wood grips, ambi safety, no hole(drain) in front of slide, blued! I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, same with the The Taurus pt917 CS I got at the same time! They both have a bit of holster wear but internals look like a very low round count!
Is there a list of serial numbers VS date of manufacture for the BHP?

I hate the feel of HP trigger lever. Makes it feel like mush. Slide rocks left/right on frame rails. Take some time to overcome.

Browning HP's just point like your finger. They are one of those handguns that just feel like they were specifically crafted for your hand. I place them in the same category as CZ's and 1911's. Kinda like the opposite of a Glock.

My point is trigger linkage to sear is anything but crisp. Like squeezing a tube of toothpaste. If you get a chance try the trigger on a real Sig 210.
