The Bushmaster

Ian's work at Herron Arms continues to impress me.

Made it out for another short morning hunt and got this doe at just under 100yards, single shot to the neck, the 125 grain TSX from Remington factory loaded Hog Hammer line did its job out of the Remington 30 AR converted ACR

30 RAR really looks like a great cartridge for deer hunting. Especially with todays selection of bullets. our gun laws are such a shame. Stalking blacktails with a 30RAR chambered lightweight AR15 would be awesome.

I wouldnt hesitate to shoot a moose with the factory loaded 125gr TSX Remington loads after seeing what it does on the two deer I have shot so far. I can also just swap out the quick change barrel to 450 Bushmaster if I felt the need.

It would be great if the ACR was a pound lighter, I was hoping to see ATRS make the caliber available in a 7lb or less package but when I brought it up it was a hard NO

Considering it replicates 300 Savage performance, moose is certainly on the table using a good bullet. I never knew much about this cartridge until this thread, now I sorta want one. :)

You could just buy one and do a conversion the same as you did with the ACR. Just throwing that out there, no one is stopping you!

Well, that actually came up when I asked about other calibers, let's just say ATRS's response was they are against anything like that. By the nature of the response I got, I could see them being unwilling to sell any replacement parts in the event of a failure etc down the road. They are pretty much against anyone altering their design.

Unless its the upper or lower that is damaged, dont worry, its all just modified or straight up AR parts. I respect Rick for bringing his design to the market but I am very disappointed at how unwilling/upset he is about people trying to help it evolve into the Canadian version of the rifle it seeks imitate the best features of. Progress must move forward even if it leaves the leader behind due to their own stubbornness.

Price for even a basic unit and 6 month wait is also a little off putting and they will not sell an incomplete rifle to mitigate costs.

A custom bolt would need to be made like my ACR. When Remington did the R15 in 30 RAR they modified an AR 10 bolt.

I may give it a go if a cheap MV pops up
