The caliber debate .270 vs 6.5

Na Hoyt, my rant was aimed at "my 270 is better than your 6.5"..........quantity and even redundancy are a completely different topic.........or form of mental disease.......

My best guess is; "the latter..."

"Haucth Tuh," may I never recover...

Yaaaaaaaaaabutttttttt, did any git the coon there Douglas, or is it a myth like the Sqwarsh and Gogopogo?

Nope 'Looky, coon is living over in a big stand of cedars and staying clear of my hay barn so he's okay for now. I thought he was related to the Gogopogo and Squarsh, but last few snowfalls his little paw prints have been telling me lots. He's behaving himself and not giving me grief so I won't actively seek him out..............but if he ever shows his furry little arse in daylight, he'll most likely catch a 17 cal bullet. That's just the way I am...........

Neither are recoil giants, but the 6.5x55 is the friendlier. 270 Win if you don't reload, 6.5x55 if you do. Both benefit from some quality time at the reloaders bench. It's really a matter of which rifle shoulders and shoots well (as the cartridges are so close).

I thought the 6.5X55 was ballistically similar to the .260. Are you saying a necked-down 30-06 is similar to the .260?

They are nocturnal for a reason Douglas..... they're allergic to .17 bullets...

Yes the 270 is nice with a little more recoil .
the 264 in 55 is a sweet rifle I have all the calibers
6mm,6.5mm,7mm,7.62
and the 6.5 is the perfect compromise between power and recoil .
im pulling off 5-6 shot groups in 1 hole
6.5 all the way
