Millionaire hunter turns home into £5.3m museum of dead animals

A TROPHY hunter has filled his home with 300 dead animals he has killed and collected over the past 40 years.
The controversial exhibit includes lions, elephants and giraffes – and is now being turned into a museum worth £5.3 MILLION.
Georges Daoust, 75, shot all the animals in his collection with his own rifle during expeditions spanning the entire globe.
The millionaire businessman, nicknamed the “Canadian Crocodile Dundee”, said he is lucky to have had the money and health to travel for his hobby.
The businessman said: “I shot my first big game caribou on the shores of Lake Caniapiscau in northern Quebec where my story began 40 years ago.
“From there, I went to British Columbia for two other hunting trips before I was bitten by the Africa bug.
“Since then I have never stopped travelling the world in search of game as diverse as possible. I’ve hunted in more than 40 countries worldwide.”
He has been charged at by a black rhino, as well as hippos during a trip to Tanzania.
He said: “You should know that hippos spend their day in the water to protect themselves from the sun.
“At night they come out of the water to feed. When they return to the water in the morning if you’re in their way they might charge you because you represent an obstacle.”
Georges has just returned from Mexico where he hunted wild sheep in the desert.
He’s now planning yet more trips — to Ghana to hunt royal antelope and to South Africa.
He said: “Life has blessed me by giving me everything — today, at age 75, I have to get ready to step aside for others.
“What would make me happiest is to give my collection to a national or provincial museum that can continue what I’ve done.”
