Whatever happened to the Canadian Indians skeet club.
Is anyone here a member , or were you a member back in the 60's-70's?
I can remember when my father used to go to the annual shoot and they gave out Hudson's Bay blankets with your entey fee.
The club officers wore native headresses, it was quite a spectical!
Some VERY good shooters there.
I think they may have migrated to Hamilton after York , but I'm not sure.

No idea about the Canadian Indians, but I suspect they are no longer with us, as to trapshooting the Okaboji Indians are alive and well!!!

I am a current member of the Canadian Indians in Ontario

We have 3 shoots a year, one skeet, one combined trap and skeet and one trap shoot (16yd, doubles and handicap)

Used to shoot skeet in York and Trap in Hamilton but started shooting both in Hamilton for a while but last year we shot the trap shoot at Galt.

Get blankets at two of the shoots plus other prizes

And yes we still wear the headresses, The regular Chiefs have headbands with feathers and the Grand Chiefs have full headresses

Numbers here are down from the 60's and 70's but we still are going and we have had over the past few years a small but steady influx of new members

I used to go watch my father shoot at York myself when I was very young.
he was a grand chief at one time, and I occasionally wear a Canadian Indians 60 anniversary bola tie he gave me .
