To mark my 500th post, I thought I'd drag out the Canadians in my possession. This has been the focus of much of my collecting, and I've enjoyed shooting all of these (just have the Martini-Henry to drag to the range yet). The collection doesn't go all the way back - I've stopped at the Snider - but it predates Confederation at least. There is one hole left that I hope to have filled in the next couple of months [now filled - thread updated w/ pic]. A mix of conditions, but I'm darned happy to have these examples.

David Edgecombe's "Defending the Dominion", Clive Law's "Canadian Military Handguns" and Phillips' and Klancher's "Arms and Accoutrements of the Mounted Police" have been invaluable resources, and highly-enjoyable reading too, as I've chased these down.

Snider-Enfield I* - DC marked, and listed to the Peel Battalion of Infantry

Martini-Henry Mk III - DC marked, and marked (it appears), to the 90th Battalion - Winnipeg Rifles

Magazine Lee Enfield (MLE) MkI (no star) - "Long Lee"

Ross Mk II 5* - Marked to a variety of Canadian regiments

Ross Mk III - Marked to the Canadian Mounted Rifles

1918 LE No 1 Mk III*

1944 Long Branch No 4 Mk I - RCMP-marked

FN C1A1 aka 'The Paperweight'

Colt Canada/Diemaco SA20

S&W .455 Hand Ejector 2nd model - named to a Major in the Royal Canadian Engineers (need a better photo)

Colt New Service in .455 - marked to the Canadian Army in WWI and subsequently to the Royal Canadian Navy

S&W Victory Model

Inglis Hi-Power

And, not true milsurp, but...

RCMP Colt New Service - in .45LC (just like my father carried)

Thanks for indulging me.

Looking good!

For handguns I think a 1914 Canadian Contract 1911 would be a logical addition!

Sure, throw that in my face. ;-)

Watching and saving up to fill that hole. I do believe you are blessed with an example, Steve1987, so please jump into the thread with pics.

IPSCgraz, I am not grandfathered for the C1 so, sadly, will be limited to a butchered example. Very annoying.

Thanks for the comments...it has been a long journey to fill in the gaps, keeping money in the bank and eyes scanning for the missing pieces -- something I'm sure most of the folks who frequent this forum can relate to.

Thank you for sharing. I will take a wild guess and say that you didn't find all those pieces in an afternoon!

You're right there. I've been on CGN since 2006. When I joined I had one milsurp, and was far too late for the barrel of Lee Enfields for $25 each. It has been a slow process, but the chase has been fun. Missed a few, couldn't afford many that turned up, so had to wait for a "deal". Again, a story familiar to many here, I'm sure. I also have to thank all of those who were ahead of me in their appreciation for these, as I have drawn heavily on their expertise.
