The Chinese have joined the fray!

I am not familiar with the norcs but I don't think it should be there, maybe the person who owned it before you did it, but someone who owns a chinese version will likely tell you for sure! I can tell you all mine work fine without it and fling those shells up to 20 feet!!

I thought so. Yes, I didn't put it back in when I reassembled the rifle.

Thanks

Some sort of a makeshift recoil buffer. Recoil buffers are installed at the other end of the spring though and seated at the back of the receiver cover. Not necessarily needed though.
Yea, not a huge amount of recoil,, and sadly I use a layer of fat to buffer what recoil there is! :0(

Exactly the point.

Just giving a heads up to all the 'nutz out there about a specific business. A PAL is not required to purchase a shotgun barrel.

Are you not sick of this charade? I've apologized more than once and explained that it was a new staff member who wasn't aware of our policy. This is NOT our policy and never will be.

Well, I took her out this morning in the snow and cold to try her out. I shot 120 rounds at some paper and the gongs at 100 metres. Here's the results from 25 rounds at 100m.

Seems really good at this distance. Rang the gongs 100%...small, med., and large. I really love it now!!
Bench? Prone? Free hand?

How good are those polymer stock kits for the SKS? I've seen the SKS in Tapco version at CT but never gave them any thought... Nice Chinese SKS, I've seen some with really nice stocks, contrary to what is posted in here.

Well...the plastic stock doesn't impress me. It is extremely tight to fit. And yet, it rattles. The folding butt-stock is no where close to being tight. While the black rifle looks "tacti-cool" and it does shoot well, the wood stock would be a better choice. That Chicom rifle really shoots well. I think better than the number 1 Russian.

If I where to be buying one for the first time, I would choose the wooden original. My 2 cents.

Went to the range this morning. Minus 10 and sunny (thankfully, no wind!). The Chicom shoots very well. I did a comaparason between the Russian and the Chinese examples. I tried the gongs at 200m. With the Russian, I hit the gong 14 out of 45 shots. About 30%. Hmmm.....

Then, I tried the Chicom. Got 36 out of 50 or 72%. And, I could have done better.

(Very scientific comparason!)

So...I absolutely love the Chinese SKS in the original stock. So, I'm going to get rid of the "rattletrap" "Plastico" on the Russain and replace it with some wood. I know it shoots well, but that plastic crap it's in doesn't do it justice.

Ok, end of the thread. Having a blast with these 60 year old rifles! Like I've said before...everyone should have one. And, I'm glad I have 3000 more rounds coming tomorrow. I blew through the first thousand in no time.

6MT, not sure if you're aware, but your black stock is not a Tapco, its an ATI Strikeforce.
I have my Chinese SKS in a Tapco, and it shoots accurately. Well, its a Tapco/ATI hybrid I guess.

I've got a Chinese ska still in grease, never been fired, but you have inspired me to go ahead and do that!
