Agit-Prop posted this over at CGS, but I thought I'd put it up here:

A SEMI AUTO revolver! Very cool.

Mateba has made several variations of the automatic revolver (mostly for bullseye competition), including the MTR-8. Most of them operate the same basic way the original Webley-Fosbery did, but the MTR-8 works more like a standard DAO revolver, only put together lined up in a way to direct recoil straight back.

These guns are more common than you think, and mostly used by criminals. Hence the breathless journalistic turn of phrase of a semi-automatic revolver.

You guys, don't know ####:)...The Mateba 6 is one of the coolest revolvers out there. there is one in Canada and I'm trying to import number two right now:) the shot like a dream........

Just ask Harrison Ford:)

Except for the earlier DAO models, the Matebas are all recoil-operated (the whole top end recoils rearward on the frame, rotating the cylinder and recocking the hammer); these are going for around $1400 US, and are available in 357, 44, and 454. They even make a non-restricted carbine version.

The Model 6 first shown is an interesting concept. By firing from the lowest chamber of the cylinder, you get the bore axis way below that of any conventional handgun, which must reduce muzzle lift dramatically. That would be an interesting gun to shoot.

My vote for funniest post. Thank you maple_leaf_eh.

Now if we could figure out what bolt action rifle can be turned easily into a machine gun, and what a .22 caliber assault rifle is?

Interesting enough, butt ugly and not my cup of tea. I guess 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and I won't be holdin' one of those. :p

After a deep and reverential box to the fan(s?), the wisea$$ renews his affront to civility.

The CFC sent me a nice letter a few years ago about my Lever Action Remington Model 700. I have been waiting for the followup. Maybe I should send an Access Request to see what important annoucement I missed.

I wonder if the .454 models could take warm 45colt? What kind of a recoil spring might something like this have?, or maybe most of the shock is absorbed by a buffer? What if it fails to cycle does it behave like a regular revolver then?

Cocked and Locked; i don't want to hijack this thread but, i just can't get over the resemblance between yourself and that old German soldier, Sgt. Shultz on Hogans' heroes!

Nah i want one.
totally blade runner-ish

gimmie gimmie

funny you should mention it, the Mateba was used in the japanese anime called Trigun (which is basically all about some kind of crazy revolver gun dueling).

He's smarter than Schultz, and doesn't own a toy factory.

A Mateba is a must-have, eventually I'll have one. I believe they are DA if they don't re-####. The low-slung barrel looks like the way all revolvers should be built.

I want to see the look on the match director's face when I show up with one for IDPA, complete wiht a Surefire taped on somewhere.
