It's a 1944 Izhevsk Polish refurb with a good looking laminate stock which has two Polish stamps on it.
Came covered in a light oil. Stock smells of cosmo, but a simple wipe down of it, and the metal, left no yellow or orange residue on the rag.
Metal is painted a smooth, somewhat glossly black. Seems well done and durable. If it ends up getting dinged or chipped too much I'll probably sent it to get armorcoated or something in the distant future.
Matching numbers, action glides very smoothly. Bolt it very shiny too. The bayo deploys nice and easy, no fighting with it. Trigger pull seems fine, and bore is good. I know from my various other Mosins that range use will tell me more with regards to cycling, and extracting. Very happy otherwise. Glad to finally add an M44 to the arsenal.
Thanks Martin!

You guys better get on these. Otherwise I'll email Martin, find out how many are left, and buy them all. ;)

I Also got an m44 from corwin, think its a Russian tho, has a darker finish. Like yours it was refurbed in fairly durable looking black paint. For the money we nabbed some pretty nice hardware. Shoots pretty darn good too.

Yes, these are all Russian produced Polish refurbs.
Congrats. If you have pics we'd love to see them.

Refurbed for sure, but by who ? The Ruskies or the Poles....im gonna guess and say they were done in Poland. .the black gloss finish is the difference..
My rifle does have a Russian style square/diamond refurb stamp on the barrel shank, so it is possible that it was first refurbed by the Soviets, then again my the Poles when they took possession.

collectors source as some original matching m44 in storage grease for 299.Might be worth a call they are not referbes but used originals
I rather have the Corwin. CS charges 3% for credit card orders too. So add $30 plus taxes & shipping, youre at the same price. Then add the mess and banged up condition. No word that they are non reburbs either.

Depends... $299 may be a good price depending on the shape they are in...or it might not...unless it was guaranteed as excellent. .I would want to see it..cosmoline or not...

Looks great. I've been thinking about selling an SVT or two to fund one of these guys. Last one I need for the WWII era Russian collection. Haven't been getting too much use out of the SVT's, the SKS is cheaper to shoot and the Mosins are easier to clean if I want a bigger boom....

That's my kind of thinking. One type of Milsurp semi satifys me just fine. I'd rather go between the SKS and a Mosin at the range. I really love working the Mosin action, and putting all my SKS and Mosin rifles through their paces outing after outing.
