Well today it finally happened, all of the stars aligned and I connected on my first called in coyote. Don't get me wrong I've killed probably eight in the past but they were all victims of circumstance, casualties of other hunting opportunities while hunting other big game. I have had success with calling in coyotes but not connecting until today.
Everything was textbook, just like I anticipated the previous half dozen times I've been out this year. Got set up right at dawn and had my decoy and ecaller 150 yrds upwind , ran the jackrabbit in distress for about 15mins. and this guy came in downwind and across from my location focused on the swirling squirltail about 150 yrd from me. He stopped for a split second and I leveled my .243 husky on his chest and he dropped DRT. never quivered.
I had all of the confidence in callin them in but this just sealed the deal. Hopefully this is the start of many more. He's not the biggest but he is the first, and like a lot of other things, you never forget your first.
