The Desert Eagle...

if your gonna buy one, get the 50. The gun is unpractical for anything but silloutte shooting, but what they hey, if thats what you want. Have you held one? Unless you've got paws like a gorrilla, it's way to big to be comfortable (grip size). I wanted one till I held the real thing, decided the ergos where crap for something that expensive, and went out and bought about 3 or 4 other good used guns for the same price.....

I just went through the same drill. I knew I wanted DE but 44 or 50 was hard to decide. Well...went with 44 and no regrets. I already have 629 in 44 so have the ammo plus it is cheaper to shoot than 50 and does have the whaww factor. So I would say 44.

PS: Latest gen. DEs are using the same frame for both 44 and 50 so you can always get the "50 kit" later for half the DE price.

chrisward,

If you can try one at a range, do so then you might have a better idea what caliber you enjoy shooting. I had one in .44, and it was a lot of fun to shoot.

Best wishes, Jeff/1911.

Having shot, operated, maintained and repaired the Desert Eagle for several months, I feel I have enough experience to say that it is in fact either a safe queen or a really expensive plinker.

Although, you could always bring it to an IPSC challenge and see if it'll fly. I'm sure they'd let you do one challenge, even just as a joke.

The .50 is the only Caliber for the DE!! :D

The recoil isn't as bad as you'd expect. A buddy of mine on this forum has one. It is completely inpractical. But he's always wanted one and got it. That being said, it's one of the first guns everyone wants to shoot.
It's definately a show piece and something that everyone loves to mention they've shot.

Anytime this buddy starts hassling me about my latest AR fixation, I remind him, it's my DE or S&W 500 (ya he has one of those too).

Marstar has a used .357 DE for sale right now at $1575...that would be a LOT cheaper to shoot!

Wasn't this the original chambering for the desert Eagle?

Just bought this today from EllwoodEpps... .44 MAGNUM Polished Chrome :)
An early B-Day present....Hell ya!

Luckily I was born with a big di.ck so I don't need to buy a large caliber handgun to compensate.

;) In truth, I'm just too poor right now to even think about trying to feed anything but my nine.

Here is a couple if pics of my DE. I've never seen another with the same finish yet. It's called satin nickle and it's a .44 mag. IIRC it was one of the very first registered in Canada. I've never had a fail to function of any kind. I like mine :)
