In the early 1990's i picked up my first 9mm pistol - the Ruger P89.
i still to this day have that pistol.
its a dependable solid pistol that gets the job done.
while ill admit i dont shoot it very often it has a special place in my heart and i will own it forever.

back in the mid 1990's Ruger put the original PC9 Carbine (as im sure you all know) and it did a pretty bad belly flop in sales but remained in production for 10 years before they discontinued it.

they of course did a redesign and re-release of the PCC as a take down with interchangeable magwel's and released that in 2018 and those have taken off in sales.

but this story is about the original PC9.
so when the original PC9 came out in 1996 i wanted one SOoooOoOooOoOoooo bad!
i had the pistol that it shared magazines with and the thought concept of having a pistol and a carbine that share magazines is something that i can 100% get my head around and am a staunch believer in.

but, as with most things in life when i had money there where none to be found and when i saw them for sale money was not to be found. and this trend continued for many years until of course they where discontinued.

now, i didnt know it back then but the reason they where probably pretty rare up here in canada is that they where restricted due to the barrel length - as with the new released ones are until they did a Canadian run of them with the 18.6" barrel.

so, now that im older and have more money at my disposal i would hide away in my den late night and search for the PC9.
a couple times i found some down in the states but for whatever silly reasons i was unable to secure them. (one fella refused to sell with the thought of the rifle leaving the country and the other fella didnt want the hassle of selling to a foreigner and the one time i did find a used one at a Cabela's i was informed that they had a change in policy and do not sell to Canadians anymore)

so i had all but given up hope.

but, i can be stubborn.
and i mention in posts from time to time that im looking for one and i put up posts every once in a while saying im looking for one.

and then one day last month i got a PM here on CGN.
"hey - you still looking for a original PC9?
i have one that im thinking of selling and i had it re-barreled and reclassified years ago to NR - and it comes with like 6 magazines, 4 of which are 30 rounders pinned."

i just sat staring at my screen.... in shock!
this was exactly..... EXACTLY what i wanted!
it even had the barrel change done and reclassified!!!!

but, of course i didnt have the money on hand - i had a mess coming in from all the OT i did all summer with the damn Forest Fires in Northern Alberta and that was suppose to be coming in any day but right then and there i didnt have it.

i was so crushed.
i thanked the fella for thinking of me and told him that if by chance he had it when my money came in id be all over it.
the fella was motivated to sell it so it put it up for sale here on CGN.
i sat and watched it for a couple days, waiting for it to sell.
(thinking of course that everyone collects obscure oddball rifles like i do)

finally my money arrived, i PMed the fellow CGN'r immediately and asked if he still had it.
he did.
i low balled him.
he reminded me that it was me that wanted the rifle badly - not him.
how very correct he was and how silly of me to play with my own dreams over a couple dollars.

money changed hands and the rifle was mine!
as luck would have it i was heading down south to visit family for the Thanksgiving weekend so we arranged to meet up in person.
i was over the moon!
the rifle was in perfect condition and a nice fat box full of magazines was icing on the cake!

i was driving home today back up to the North and i took some time to stop in the forest and run a couple boxes through the rifle.
let the kids blaze a couple magazines as well.
function test - done!

im looking forward to getting it out beside my new PCC and comparing them both.
ill have to make a video and put it online if the mode takes me.

long story short, if you have a fetish for something keep looking, eventually you will find a brother fetish person who may be willing to let you buy into your fetish.

@Beater thanks for the sale, you are a scholar and a gentleman
