Yes, I've seen it finally.........a 788 with a ramline stock going for 950 on the EE!!
The seller must know something we don't know!?!?
A bit misleading, but we love to complain, don't we?
Let's break it down into the individual components:
Remington Model 788: $450
Nikon Monarch: $350
Original walnut stock: $50
Rings: $25
Extra mag: $25
Shipping: $30
These are just my "out of thin air" values - but I don't think I'm out there. No - I don't want to buy a 788 today, but for someone who does, this would not be the worst deal of the year.

I personally find a lot of the #####ing about the EE is nothing more than good old-fashioned attention-whoring.
True some people do put up prices that seem out to lunch forsure but I'm finding out alot of the guys out there buying always seem to want something for nothing. Like I've always said to my friends " it's easier to go down in price then go up when you find out you're not asking enough"!

It's obvious that people are buying new rifles online,deciding they don't like the gun and listing it for sale.The question is,what percentage of original price is it worth the risk given the fact that warranty isn't transferable on firearms?
Instead of dedicating an entire thread to #####ing about EE prices, how about sending a polite message to the party in question? If my ASKING price is completely out of line, I would honestly like to know instead of finding out like this... Brutus, your entirely rude message didn't go so well so you had to make it public eh?
I will also add that nowhere in my add does it say "firm", "no lowballers", etc. Of course I'm willing to move around on my price, possibly sell rifle separate, etc. Here's what I figured everything was worth:
788 in VG+ condition: $450
Nikon monarch in excellent condition: $350
Either ramline or walnut stock: $50
Spare mag: $30
Rings and bases: $30
Shipping of all the above to anywhere in Canada: $40-60
I don't understand why people can't just communicate with each other properly, but instead they need to inflate their post count a little bit more...

I have sold a lot of rifles on EE. In the beginning they sold within minutes. I concluded I was selling too low. So I added $100 to prices. They still sold quite quickly. So I now add another $100 to what I think the price should be and they either sell in a week or or I get some reasonable counter-offers.
Remember: The buyer is shopping around and has a good idea of what he is willing to pay and what he thinks a reasonable offer would be.
The seller is selling a gun he does not want. In my case I am selling guns that may have bee purchased 30 years ago. I have no idea what I paid then and even less idea what they are worth now. If my EE price is too high it is because if ignorance of the value - not an intention to try to get the absolute top dollar.

out of all the ridiculous prices on the EE you choose to bi#@h about this one? I'm with looch and the poster of the ad on this one. The price is actually in a fair range. Nikon monarch scopes are excellent quality and don't come up on the EE very often. I'd take it over a Leupold 8 days of the week. The spare stock, magazine and rings have to be counted in as well. If it's not you're cup of tea then move on, if you're interested in the gun but don't want that qiality of optic then make a reasonable offer. I totally agree with you that EE prices can be out to lunch, sometimes I browse through just for a good laugh. But it's childish and inconsiderate to single out this one individuals sale for a roast. Even if it was an outrageous price it would not be acceptable to embarrass someone like that. Also, have you gone to a gun show at all in the past? Look at the prices they ask there. everything is marked up so high as they expect people to haggle, if you were selling your guns based on what the asking prices are that you've seen at shows then it would be in line.
So you don't like the prices on the EE when you are the buyer. Do you want the right to ask whatever price you want when you are the seller or should we set up some kind of pricing rules. How about this, only 1 back to top. No more BTT without a 10% price reduction. Would you agree with a Pricing Panel that you would have to submit pics and a description of your merchandise too and let them set the price? How about we stay with the tried and true system of buyer beware. I have never made a deal here yet that both parties weren't comfortable with.
