The end of cheap Chinese ammo?

This would fit in to the governments over all plan to continue to control firearms in canada. The control of each and every gun is an impossible task as the long gun registry proved so the next logical step is to start limiting the ammunition. Without bullets all you have is a steel pipe with some wood or plastic on it not much good for any except as decoration. The ammunition importing is something that the government has total control over,

This has nothing to do with the Canadian government at all. The Chinese shipper doesn't want to move the ammo. That's the only issue.

Personally, I'm more worried about their control over dihydrogenmonoxide.

For the folks in the lower mainland i picked up a 1600rnd case at international shooting supplies in surrey, they have sevral cases left on the floor there. $439 for 1600

Actually redid the math and feel a little better... By factoring in that I'm missing out on paying BC PST it brings the difference down to $55... Still, I'll just be happy to have cost certainty for shooting for awhile!

I find it difficult to believe the Chinese will ignore a market where they can make a buck. I'm sure someone will step in to grab these dollars.

In the mean time I'll be saving my brass and look into reloading. If prices jump significantly because of a lack of Chinese ammo reloading will become even more popular.

.

That's the key. It's not just their selling price, but the landed cost. The selling price alone, in China is largely irrelevant. You could air freight it, but you won't like the landed cost.

If they or the importers can't get cheap shipping, then it can't compete. Who's going to buy surplus ammo that costs more than domestic ammo?
