After watching a few Youtube movies with a group of Americans, all togged up either in British military uniforms or those of the Confederacy shooting competitively with P53 rifled muskets, I treated myself to the book that describes, in fulsome detail, how the arrival of the 'English Cartridge' that they were using to the battlefields of the ACW was a gamechanger.
This book is an immense work of dedication the the history, design and development and manufacture of this important part of the history, not only of the British Army to which it was introduced, but the warring factions in the lower 48 between 1861 and '65.
I haven't done much more than glance through it right now, but it's a good read for anybody wishing to emulate those who used it in that most trying of circumstances - the battlefield.
