I bought an 18" barreled 870 Police back in '95 and sent it down to the original Scattergun Technologies in Nashville, TN and had them install their Border Patrol package. It remained as such until the middle of last year when I found a really good deal on a factory Remingtion 14" 870 barrel; add a few more goodies, some custom work and OD Gunkote, and this is the end result:

I borrowed the idea for modifying the rear ghost ring from shotgun guru extraordinaire Rob Haught; he calls it the "friendly ghost". It's even faster than a traditional ghost ring, if you can believe that, while retaining more than adequate reference for slug shooting.

Here's the build run-down:

- Reminton 870 Police Magnum
- Remington factory 14" barrel, cyl bore
- Wilson Combat 1 shot magazine extension
- Wilson front sight (c/w Tritium ampule) epoxied and roll-pinned to front bead pad
- top half of rear ghost ring milled off to "friendly ghost" configuration
- Olive Drab Gunkote
- 4 round Sidesaddle
- Surefire 618FGA forend, c/w system disable switch, Beam Cover, and Z10 Switchblocker.
- Speed Feed reduced LOP butt stock
- Blue Force Vickers Combat Sling

My little Green Machine.

Sweet. I've been slowly working on what I call my Zombat Shotgun project; I think I might just post some pics of it myself :).
