I noticed a LOT of people from the "if you could just have ONE prohib" thread posted the FNC1.
I find that interesting
I'd like to know why?
Personally, it was the MBR of my years in the forces, I got out just before we switched to the C7's.
The FNC1 was heavy, it had a crappy gas system, it had a weak mag well, and 100 other things that were horrible about it..
At the same time I remember it with such fondness.. It was your field #####... you lugged it around, babied it, cleaned that ####ing gas plug every 20 seconds with the extra tooth brush you always had for just that occasion... You Varsol'd it, oiled it, could put it together in the dark, slept with it, took it EVERYWHERE you went.........
My first FN was actually 10 years older than I was....
Trying to remember the serial, something like 6L 00007 or something like that...
But, just the rifle itself, and the sight of one brings back so many good memories of times spent with your "brothers" and getting through exercises and being wet and not having enough sleep and laughing about sleeping for 27 hours after being in the field for 4 weeks or whatever..
So...
WHY are so many others interested in this old Belgian #####?
Stories please...
