Hello All,

I did not know if this is considered "milsurp" or "black and green". In any event, what kinds of FN are availiable with a non-restricted licence here in Canada? Are there any around? How much do they go for usually? Calibers? I would love to get my hands on one someday but am looking for some information. I know virtually nothing about them, so I am hoping someone can fill me in here. What are some good production dates? I always liked the look of it, and Belgium makes some nice guns. Where were the FN's made? I had a friend finish a tour of peace service some years ago in Africa and he said they dug up a weapons cache once and it was packed with 4 crates of "FN FAL" and "FN 49". Wish I had been there, he said some of the service gents "dufflecut" the rifles or dissassembled them and took them home or some such.

Any information is welcome!

Yours,
Drachenblut

FN-49 - kinda looks like the Garand. Came too late for WWII so was an export piece. Egypt (8mm Mauser), Venezuela (7mm Mauser), Luxembourg (30-06), Argentina (7.65x53) etc... Some have the detachable magazine, most have a 10 round fixed.

Both a 7mm and 8mm sold on the EE recently. Price on the Egyptian was $600 I think - I didn't catch what the Venezuelan rifle sold for. I've never seen any of the others listed anywhere.

Neat rifle. I shot an Egyptian at one of our local gravel pile ranges last year, good fun. I briefly considered buying it but the owner told me there were basically no spare parts available for them so I bought a Garand instead =)
