Who all makes good accurate ( sub MOA ) hornets now. I have 2 now and have had many other old brands. Just though I would ask as my son would like one and I am not ready to give up mine!

Cooper

I would suggest picking one of your own for your son, and replacing it with a Cooper, or something else high grade. You both deserve it!

I have the Ruger in k hornet, it was a mistake. I'll keep it as it works, but if I was to do it again I would go CZ.
I don't like the rotary magazine or wonky two peice bolt. I wish I had bought a CZ or BRNO years ago before people realised how good they were!

I have K-Hornet's in CZ 527, Ruger 77 and H&R (X3)... they are all decently accurate, right around MOA with 13 gr of Lil Gun under 40 VM's... I reamed them all with the same die and don't have to sort or allocate cases... Hornets are a ball to shoot.

P.S - I love the Ruger rotary magazine.

Pretty happy with my BRNO, so if I was looking for another Hornet, my vote would go to the CZ.
- People seem happy with them
- Spare magazines are readily available, and reasonably price.

If the budget is a little higher... Cooper makes some nice stuff.

If you're in no rush (and have the $$) you can always have something made up

SilkyMike love the picture of the BSA falling block Hornet, I passed on one similiar about 8 years ago, regretted it, as was only $600!

I would look at getting a nice ANNIE sporter, or Walther KKJ-H if you want a nice vintage piece, but they seem to runn $1K-2K?

A Cooper singleshot model 38 is on the upper end, $1500 Used and up to $2K depending on extra custom order features.

A Nice BRNO 456 seem to start at $900 now adays! Best bet is buy a new CZ 527, you can even get a FS model once in a blue moon, there real nice as i have one right now! Price is arounf $800-900 i believe?

The holy grail is the Winchester Pre 64 model 54/70's, this is the fullest size Hornet ever made!

good luck Dale Z!

Good thing that's a Hornet... the recoil pad looks a little thin...

I've had a Anshutz 1430-1434 in 22 Hornet since the mid 70's. Think I paid $250 for it, beautiful little sporter. It will shoot moa. with a Leupy 2-7 compact on it. It is on the rear locking 54 match action and is a bit hard on cases even with neck sizing, gotta watch for incipient case head separation after about 6 loadings. Mag is on the short side so really pointy bullets are out unless you like the case mouth past the full diameter shank of the bullet, it was best with the Hornady solid base 45 grainers that were made with a semi round nose for the Hornet , but I note that they are not available any more:bangHead:
